Shane, hope you are having a great time. I love film - and I do like the grit your productions bring to the big screen. Hail hail for a bit or realism. Your new project about Bartley Gorman sounds brilliant. Bringing to the screen a life that has all sorts of meaty experiences attached to it.
However, I worry that Paddy is not the right man for the role (brilliant actor that he is). Has he had the street-fighting experience and fought many hand to hand fights that would allow him to bring to screen the credibility needed for such a role and the true feel of Gorman himself? Has he the right physical presence and will he be believable in this role? It seems silly (with the greatest of respect) to me to cast someone that has performed lead roles in your films that your audience will then automatically connect him with the other characters.
However, if he does pull it off then he will be god-like in my mind. Nevertheless, I do fear the worst. Personally I believe you need a need new face for this role that the audience can connect with. Who then to play the part? Me of course - a spit of the man himself, (ha,ha), 6' 3", 17 and 1/2 stone with the essential experience of the above. If not at least allow me to be in a fight scene with Paddy (Gorman), OK a walk on part then, or anything to be part of this project would be an honour. Good luck Shane - from a fellow Nott'm man.

That is a great little documentary. I feel like I need to see more. What a gentle guy! I kinda expected him to be a bit more animistic and effected by the violence. I Love how he is forced to defend himself by brutal means but seems to dispise violence. I can't believe the violence he had to face. I am even more amped about the possibility of a feature now. I can already see the incident with the gang trying to cut of his legs and ram an iron bar down his throat . I wouldn't want to be on the other end of one of his jabs. This'll make 'Snatch' look like 'Hairspray'. I'd take a guess that it'll be an 18 certificate. I can see the nuances used for Morell so clearly now it's untrue. You can hear a bit of it in his daughters accent too. Where does an accent like that come from? I've got to get the booky wook now. Bowler, he died from liver cancer at the age of 57 in 2002.

The documentary is amazing, never seen it before, he is so so painful. What a great strong man, he is so tough but what he was saying was really moving, he was really honest. wow.
Its a great piece.
His singing was beautiful!

I really liked the documentary. His whole life was "fighting" and Family. Great story for a feature film.

I knew you would all like him, after reading his book and seeing Shane's documentary a few weeks back the guy is certainly a tremendous character. Seeing how much respect Shane and Paddy have for him if they do make the film it should be fantastic.

Top banana stuff, I really enjoyed it....his band of folk remind me a little of the Dingles from Emmerdale.
I can see why Shane wants to make a feature, it'll make a great story....Paddy's gonna have to go seriously method though to pull him off!
