Sorry I haven't been around much. I have been in Thailand visiting my Grandfather for a few weeks. He has lived out there for ten years on and off, but because of my (and my dads) fear of flying (and heat), we have kept putting off a visit. Anyhow we finally did it and I made another film out there of course (documenting our trip) and I am knuckling back down to work on editing my '4!!!' films.
What a year it has been. How do you take a year out to promote a film and end up making 2 pop promo's, 2 half hour and 2 feature length films? I'm chuffed to have so many irons in the fire, but I have four unfinished films and one Shane, so if anyone has any cloning equipment, could they please drop me a PM!
In brief:
The documentary 'The Living Room' which I made about my friend Gavin as he builds up to playing his first ever solo gig (in his living room) is in the can and ready for assembling.
'Le Donk' is coming along nicely and should be wrapped up january (editing) and should see it completed in Feb as we are aiming to do most of the post production in Final Cut pro.
Somers Town is also rattling along nicely and has shot from being a 30 minute short to an 80 minute movie. I have no idea how this has happened as we scheduled and completed a 10 day shoot of frasers script to enable us to make a beautiful 30 minute movie. It was a frikking nightmare shooting in london and I feared that we wouldn't have enough to make even that. Yet somehow between the polish beer, the single take scenes and a sprinkling of meadows improv we ended up with a first cut of nearly 2 hours and it has steadied up around the 80min mark! It is no Die Hard 4, but it is a touching little pig and I hope I can convince Channel 4 to give it a slot on Film4 or C4 next spring.
Finally, The travelog of myself, me dad and my uncle pete in Thailand will be edited somewhere amongst the other 3 and may find it's way onto here for it's premiere, though quite when that will be....
Finally finally, Mark Herbert confirmed that the date for Smalltimes release is set. I think he said April, but I was at the Bifa's when he told me and was a little 'bubbled' up so can't quite remember the convo. I'm sure there will be more on this fairly soon.
Rayt, I'm off to me dungeon (sponsored by Vesta beef curry) to start editing my 587 films for Christmas. I may be some time.
Shandy.
