I don't think that this thread has ever been started in the past...Tried to make this into a poll but, boy, was that more than my little brain could handle... the title hopefully says it all.... but just to qualify what i mean.. i mean not just the likability of the character, but how affecting the character is and how well realised the character is... and how believable the character is... and anything else you want to throw into the mix really

I'll start if off.... I just have to go for Morrell, no character has made me laugh more, and yet no character has freaked me out more (in Shane's films... and many other films besides)... i spend so much of the film being completely unsure if i love him or hate him and this only becomes more emphatic the more i watch it... a truly complex, contradictory fellow, superbly realised by mr considine
other contenders in no particular order... Woody, Shaun (from TIE) Herbie (DMS) Ronnie Marsh (24/7) romeo (RFRB)

One for the Smalltime fans... Lenny the fence! A shifty little wheeler dealer plus he also seems to be the minder and protector of Mad Terry. He's kind of like a 90's version of a spiv... think Private Walker in Dad's Army Nothing says sorry better than a box of washing powder! ;D

SPOILER.
I'm partial to Richard in DMS -- I can't think of very many other characters who could scare the hell out of me one minute and break my heart the next, but this guy did.
As much as I could sympathize with him at first, I could also understand how he came to hate what his single-minded pursuit of revenge had turned him into -- it wasn't doing a thing to bring his brother back, nor change the fact that he had abandoned Anthony in the first place.

Unsurprisingly I will have to go for Morell too.
Forgetting performance quality from Paddy, and remembering that this was before Paddy Considine was Paddy Considine. You wouldn't be surprised if Morell was a real person that they grew in a field just for the role. I see no strings in this performance and it was completely sold to me. Paddy Has mentioned that this is the only role of his that has consumed him totally.
Other strong contenders: Combo,Woody,Shaun (from TIE all totally believable) Anthony,Jo (DMS) Bill Woolley (RFRB) Ruby,Jumbo,Kate (Small time)
I hear you on Lenny the fence though Dave. He's like Mama Fratelli looking after Sloth from 'The Goonies' mixed with Mickey Pearce from Only Fools and Horses.
