Yeah, this would be a great film. It could be about 16 year olds who are spoilt brats who race around town centres on mopeds annoying everyone with the noise pollution they create. It could be an experimental piece even, with a soundtrack by Scooter! Brilliant band.

I wasn't taking the piss, but in all honesty isn't the group of youths who ride mopeds less of a scene like you describe and more just a bunch of random people? Of course there are scenes now as you describe, but compared to its heyday now it is merely a mini-cult or nostalgia piece. Sorry if I sounded negative, it was more just my sense of humour. Compared to certain Brit films your idea has some appeal but Quadrophenia was based around the music of The Who. Who would provide the music to a 2009 updating?
Sorry if I sounded like a smart ass wisecracking kinda asshole. That's not my name though.
I remember a film with Zombie Hell's Angels, that would be a good film for Shane to update.

I remember a film with Zombie Hell's Angels, that would be a good film for Shane to update. Would that film be 'Psychomania' by any chance James? Absolute corker of a B-Movie Horror! A Gang of young people call themselves the Living Dead. They terrorise the population from their small town. After an agreement with the devil, if they kill themselves firmly believing in it, they will survive and gain eternal life. Following their leader, they commit suicide the ones after the others, but things don't necessarily turn out as expected...AND it's got Beryl Reid in it as the leader's Mammy - she's a witch y' know! Great film - I've been after it on DVD but not available alas. Neil.

Hahah .. err ... I had a Vespa ... kept falling off it all the time as it was so bloody heavy and only being 5ft 1 and 7stone wet through, once it reached a certain angle, there was no way I could hold it up.

Yea, I drive a Vespa. They are pretty heavy, especially when you stop.

I've only ever seen it on ITV before, I thought it might have come out on dvd though. I may be going a bit doolally but I think I quite fancied Beryl Reid in that film! They don't make films with titles like that these days do they? Or have comics with the characters chortling at the comic itself! Strangely canny.

Or have comics with the characters chortling at the comic itself! Strangely canny. Yep... used to do my head in that... AND I never remember EVER seeing anyone laugh at a comic... the only exception to this is on the screen - our very own "This Is England" where Shaun's laughing at the comic. Mind you... it's the same with 'lol' - come on - ye don't REALLY lol every time do you? There are some exceptions to that though... but it's not every occasion! Right, I'm off to buy the Beano, lol. Whether or not I will LOL will depend on how cr*p the day's going, or whether I carry on with that varnishing in an unventilated area! N.

No, I think people generally use LOL rather too sparingly on the internet. It could be an issue that Labour could address, it may be a vote winner. Don't they need all the votes they can muster from that slimeball Cameron?
The whole 'LOL' thing could be attributed to people feeling that laughter is the best medicine and wanted to put on a happy face, that being positive and looking well-pleased with oneself is the recipe for success in life, how to win friends and influence people. Its a pretty kneejerk thing, or an almost indoctrinated tendency where people put on a cheerful front.
I never used to laugh much at The Beano or Dandy as I can recall, just lay in bed taking in the excellent drawing skills and the perhaps not-so-thrilling storylines. I am pretty sure the scene where Shaun is chortling in This is England is a dark foreboding scene of what is to come in the film.
Have you heard of rofling? I think that is quite a serious issue on the www too.

Have you heard of rofling? I think that is quite a serious issue on the www too. Oh yes... I've had a go at that... trouble is we've got a wooden floor, so you have to watch out for splinters! I'd often type in FTWL on forums when there was something worthy of more than a bit of a titter... folk would later ask what it meant... it'd take a while though because like 'lol' and 'rolf' (the latter being the Dyslexic Didgeridoo Dude) people assumed that they 'should know' all internet acronyms. But... not this one - well, I made it up: "Followed Through With Laughter" - no worthier praise if it's that funny eh? Neil.
