Haha, Jenna Haze @ 00:40 This looks like a good laugh(like the first one)! Yes indeed. There's a bizarre and ridiculous bit in it (hmmmm are there any other type of bits in Crank? haha) where the action runs into a street demonstration of porn stars demanding more pay. There were some funny banners in the background of that bit, but I can only remember the brilliantly crass, "No Cash, No Gash!" one though! haha If anyone listens to the Collings and Herrin podcast, you will hear some discussion of Crank: High Voltage in the current edition.... and I think I am the main reason it crops up! I've been going on about it on another forum (on which Andrew Collins often posts), and jovially complained about Andrew Collins rubbish review of the film last Friday when he stood in for Mark Kermode on Radio 5 Live. He went to see it, but walked out after only 26 minutes! Complaining the film hated women. Well, we've put him straight about that the silly billy. Andrew Collins didn't 'get it'. Not everyone does. He replied to me a few times on the forum, which was nice. I think he has seen the error of his ways now. Not that he has to like the film, but that he shouldn't dismiss it as something that it isn't.

I'd rather watch a film like Crank - that's purely a bit of action packed fun - than a pretentious, so called "arty" film with loads of drawn out sequences with nothing happening(I could name a load but won't)and no story line that are purposely made to try and win awards .

Haha classic none stop action film from start to finish, from the punctured silicone breats to the surprise head in the tank, almost every scene feels like a action computer game moving up to the next level, power ups/fights i loved it!! ;D More of the same as the original but still keeps different with other little plot threads going on this time. Think this will be the start of a lot of action films trying to imitate crank now, but doubt will pull it off as well. Just like the last one has a very unexpected ending, were i thought is that it? I wont spoil it for any one. Would be great if they made a computer game, would definetly buy, hope theres more to come.

Did I mention it before.... the directors have mentioned that they want to do Crank 3 in 3D. Ha ha brilliant. Although, if you've seen any interviews with Neveldine and Taylor, they are often joking, so who knows if it's true. They have mentioned that the makers of RED cameras have developed a new light-weight 3D camera set up, and of course, that is what they are all about. They need to be able to rollerblade with one! ;D
I find it frustrating that Crank has never done well at the box office. Just look at the US and UK box office at the moment.... Crank 2 languishing at number 10, or fallen out of the top 10 altogether, whereas shite like Fast & Furious is high up the chart making about 10 times the money. The general public are a right bunch of clowns! Trouble is, there's a huge amount of action film fans who take it all very seriously. So with Crank, they don't see the joke, and just think it is way too unbelievable! haha
I see in the US Crank 2 has made only about 12 million so far. That's pretty low, but the budget of the film was touted as less than 20 million, so it will easily become profitable on a world wide scale... even before DVD and Blu-Ray releases.
Crank 1 only cost about 12 million to make. Even with low takings, I think a third film could be seen as a profit making idea by Lionsgate.
I'm enjoying keeping track of Crank 2. Neveldine and Taylor are keen to promote the "get out there and do it" philosophy for new film-makers, like a certain Mr Meadows. I've seen and read a few interviews where they talk about this... I'll try and find them again.

Saw it last night, has to be the most insane 'mainstream' movie I can remember in ages, i thought the first was a fairly straight forward action film but I'm gonna have another look after seeing this. I loved the attitude in this one, the 'if we think its funny its in it!' vibe. I can imagine there gonna be a few bewildered action fans though. Loved the bad guy gossing in Chev's chest at the start!

Loved the bad guy gossing in Chev's chest at the start! I agree with your 'mainstream' in inverted commas. The films are more like arthouse action films.... if such a thing dared to exist . Crank High Voltage is even more arthouse than the first one. Here's one of the interview vids I found with the directors telling people to get out and make films. I quite enjoy their self-deprecating humour too! The idiots who did the interview insist on putting adverts in the middle of their videos, so get ready to skip those. Oh, I just read that Maynard James Keenan of the bands Tool and A Perfect Circle had an uncredited cameo in Crank High Voltage. Didn't spot him myself.... anyone know where he was in the film? EDIT: OH MY WORD! Maynard was one of the blokes with the dog and electric collar! Ha ha.... he was unrecognisable! Need another viewing! I am thinking of catching the film in the cinema again before it disappears completely anyway. ;D

I enjoy the random appearance of the Linkin Park lead singer in both films for some reason.
That's a great video Dave. Just the sort of attitude I love.
You know that KuPlunk video I showed you Dave? Apprently the promoters saw it, said "good effort" and they're sending the guys who made it (some mates of mine) a load of free promotion stuff for Crank High Voltage! Pretty cool.

That's cool about that Kerplunk! film. I wonder what goodies they will get!
My ceaseless interest in all things Crank has lead me to another interesting video. Lloyd Kaufman on the set of the film.... he's another blummin' cameo I didn't know about! How many can there be! haha He's one of the workmen watching the Godzilla fight. Lloyd Kaufman is the guy who started and runs Troma films. I've never been a fan of them to be honest, but they are definitely a great example of just getting on with it! Troma are releasing a DVD called Make Your Own Damn Movie! and it features Neveldine and Taylor.
I see that Lloyd has a cameo in their next film too Game / Citizen Game.
Great quote in there...".. he has to keep his body, and more specifically, his heart electrically charged. It's a very serious film. It's a true story."
Oh.... and the other dog training man in the film is apparently the bassist from Nine Inch Nails! Rack up those cameos!

Finally I'll be seeing this tonight, the last showing in Leicester - 22:40.
It's like pulling teeth trying to get people to come and see it with me. My girlfriend saw the trailer for that very imaginatively titled film 'Fighting', we left the cinema and she said she wouldn't mind seeing it. How you can want to see that '8 mile' style Rocky wannabee shyte, and not see any merit in Chev Chellios, I'll never know.
You people.

Exactly.... it's hilarious what people will take a shine to while simultaneously snubbing the Chelios! Wolverine anyone? haha Loads of people will watch that, and it's obviously going to be your average borefest (not that I've seen it), yet still they trot along. Won't somebody take the Crank doorstep challenge!? Now, we want a good report from you Davros.

That film just looks terrible. It's like the makers saw Fight Club and COMPLETELY missed the point. Hey. Dude. Like. Wouldn't it. Like. Be really cool. Like. If we. You know. Like. Re-made Fight Club. For Like. The Step Up generation. NO! IT WOULDN'T!!!

I thought id give Crank a viewing before trying to digest Crank: High Voltage, mainly to try and make sense of what I had just witnessed.
SPOILERS.
It was alot better than I was expecting. I'll probably only reiterate what you people have already said.
It massively plays more on the videogame ideas, from the opening when he escapes the 'hospital', each villain has a better weapon than the one before, handgun/shotgun/machine gun. And obviously the battery pack is his 'life'.
The timeline was a bit odd. If its three months after he fell to earth, what has been happening in the meantime?
Venus is fantastic.
One thing I did notice though after viewing the original, when Chev is telling Eve the truth in the cafe about what he does. He says he originally told her he was a videogame developer, and not a hitman. Im guessing were going to see a dream sequence ending at some point.

Oh yeah, I'd forgotten about the videogame developer comment. I also wasn't sure about the 3 months timeline. It just seems to be that he's been kept in the triad's backstreet surgery for 3 months.
