This trailer needs its own thread to keep it from damaging the rest of the forum! Most ridiculous looking trash action film I've ever witnessed.... .... HOORAH! I guess I should add this trailer definitely not safe for work. Swearing, violence, and arses! Working trailer now here: www.themovieblog.com/2008/12/crank-2-trailer

Haha! Well I never said it looked like a good film in the other thread.
Looks like a cross between an episode of Jackass and porn

Looks like a cross between an episode of Jackass and porn But that's why it should be good, because it is so very not good, and doesn't care that it isn't! EDIT: Looks like it has been taken off of YouTube by Lionsgate for some reason. They don't have it on their official YouTube channel the sods. Here it is elsewhere: www.themovieblog.com/2008/12/crank-2-trailer

I'm excited about the prospect of a reasonably big budget sequel (ok, I suppose $15-20m is fairly low for this kind of thing) going from shooting HD CAM on the original to shooting on HDV, or the Canon XH-A1 to be more precise.
The first one is total bollocks, but it's pretty amusing so no reason why the sequel won't be fun.

I thought he died at the end of the last one? As if that makes any less sense than the rest of it! ;D Bring it on!

This really excites me that they seem to be shooting on the Canon XH A1 as well as thats a good camera I nearly bought but went up to the Sony Z5. Its really going to be a film makers market now with so many great HDV cameras. We are pushing to make our first feature on a 10k budget filmed HDV with the EX1 and Z5.

Looks they have used one of those FigRig things too (named as such because Mike Figgis invented it).... the steering-wheel thing used for hand-held style shooting, but with far better ability to control and steady the shots.

Its going to be brilliant, I wasnt too impressed with Transporter 3. Utter mindless fun, now to find out when its released. Crank 2 comes out in April! Hopefully April Fools Day too! Glad someone else has joined the whole-hearted embrace of the Crank films. For me they are not just utter mindless fun, because that describes a usual, better than average action based film. Crank is mindless, but where the mind once was, they have replaced it with a petrol soaked grenade, and painted it fluorescent yellow... and stuck some flashing lights on it, and Tippexed the word FUCK on it. Basically it's unashamedly nonsensical, while also being dangerously exciting. It has no qualms about being lowest-common-denominator trashy fun. From my point of view, if you think Crank is pure action film shit of the lowest order, it's like saying you're embarrassed that you like This Is Spinal Tap because some people think they are a real band. Mike Patton is scoring Crank 2 aswell. Could it be any more perfect!? ;D

I'm keen to check out these Crank films. You seen Shoot 'Em Up Dave? I'm sure you'd like it. I might check Shoot 'em Up out. But there are few films that manage to walk the fine line between crap and ace for me. For the most part I don't like stylised action films at all, they're almost always shite. Who saw Smokin' Aces? I knew a few people who liked it, but I thought it was absolute cack. Wanted? I would never watch that muck after seeing the embarrassing trailer. Crank just has an Indefinable something that most other seemingly similar films don't have. I think it is that they feel like they are made from a genuine sense of fun, rather than a cynical bunch of goons making stylised crap which they are aiming at a demographic.

you seen 'No Retreat No Surrender' Dave? superb crap No chance! Jean-Claude Van Cack! Crank is a different breed of film. It is self-aware, but not ironic. Any laughable, lame, stupid, ridiculous, crap bits know that they are laughable, lame, stupid, ridiculous, crap bits. The film is directed and written with an awareness of all of this, and the film can pull it off too. No Retreat, No Surrender is just crap (I'm guessing). It may be superb because it is so crap, but it is still just crap.
