Back in November we held the Encounters Short Film fest where I work. As one of the festival highlights, there is always a BAFTA organised event called the BAFTA Short Film Paradise in which a reknowned film-maker takes part in a live interview and Q&A. This year we saw Paddy Considine take to the stage and very interesting it was too. Thankfully the whole event, which runs at over 90 minutes, was captured for posterity in video format, and it has now been put online for all to enjoy. I guarantee that there will be things in the interview you haven't heard before, and there are also plenty of insightful and wise, industry-weary words from Mr Considine too. The video is in a streaming Quicktime format, so you need Quicktime installed to watch it. No idea why the Watershed still holds onto blummin' Quicktime for web videos when there is the far more universally accepted Flash video around. Anyway, as I have mentioned, the video is epic in length, but you can watch it in shifts if you like because you can drag the play point to where you last left off. However, Quicktime streaming doesn't seem to display a time-code, unlike most Flash players. Rubbish! As you can imagine, it's not an event that necessarily needs to be on video to enjoy it. So, if like me, you have plenty of commuting time for podcasts during your week, you may prefer the interview as an MP3 file. I will ask around at work if this is okay, and I will try to make the MP3 of it available too. Here's the vid! www.dshed.net/talks/encounters08/paddy-considine/index.html

Richard T Kelly does the interview? That's great - the guy is a real talent. I wouldn't be surprised to see the guy writing a book on Paddy at some point... His book on Sean Penn is tremendous.

Great interview, definitely worth the 90 minute time slot. It's always refreshing to see an actor be honest about things they do and don't like about working in that industry, but still keeping a sense of humour about things.
