I see that Meadows has the movie 'king of the Gypsies' on his agenda. However, I was really hoping that Meadows would do something with the story of Lenny 'the guv'nor' Mclean.

Lenny is a top man and its surprising a film hasnt come out about him yet seeing as Cass was made and Rise of the footsoldier. Not sure Shane is the right person for this though. I can appreciate why he would do a film about Bartley as he has so much respect for the guy and its close to his heart. I've read The Guvnor and it would be great to see his story but only if its by the right person with the right lead actor and done in the right way. Its bound to happen at some point I'd imagine.

I've also read it, the stuff with his step dad would be really interesting to see played out in a narrative.

Read the book a few year back, what a life he had, with him being a fighter and buisness man ;D/heavy on the side. Cant say i would of liked him in real life, coming across as very opinionated, amost bully at times, but then shows a real emotional side too, showing he is human after all.
Think people now regard him as some cockney pantomime gangster after cashing in later years in Lock Stock film, but agree with you Gareth the chapters on his child life and his relationship with his father is real Shane territory and could do it brilliantly, including the comic timing of when hijacking of the artic lorry which turns out to be a lorry load of chocolate penguin biscuits!! The chapter were he flew out to America to fight the mafias best prize fighter had me on the edge of my seat, very good.
Cant remember in the book if Bartly Gorman and Lenny McLean ever met, what with them being bare knuckle fighters around the same time. Does any one know?
