Hello, everyone... My earliest Meadows memory was watching 'A Room For Romeo Brass' one night probably not long after it was first released. Being about 10 or 11 at the time, I didn't go out of my way to find out who directed it. A few years later, I saw 'Dead Man's Shoes'... I was blown away(I watched it probably about ten times within the first couple of days of buying it!). It remains my favourite film to this day. I then went and watched everything else that Meadows had made and realized that the great film I had seen a few years earlier was also a Meadows masterpiece. I love everything Shane has done(I even thought 'Once upon a time in the Midlands' was okay)! About a year ago I sent Shane a sort of "audition" CD ROM, which featured me performing various, "Meadows-inspired" characters... * If anyone wishes to view these you can do so by going to my youtube account @: www.youtube.com/ak47monco * Unfortunately I received no reply from Shane I have been an avid reader of these message boards for a couple of years but have not - until now - been able to find the time to sign up myself. Now I have done and I look forward to chatting to you all... If anyone cares to know, my favourite films(in no particular order except for DMS)are... 1. Dead Man's Shoes - Oldboy - The Machinist - For a few dollars more - Atonement - American History X - The Departed - Lucky Number Slevin I have just made a 60 second short and will provide a link in the '60 second short thread' A.S.A.P. Well, that's all from me. Bye!

Hey Aiden. Good choice of films, you a fan of Park Chan Wook's other films? or Korean Cinema in general? I've seen Park's other two films in the 'revenge' trilogy, though in my opinion, neither - anywhere near - measure up to Oldboy. I've seen a war film with Choi Min-Sik in(forgotten what it was called), it was okay, dragged on a bit though I thought. Err, I've seen A Tale of Two Sisters, didn't rate it t be honest(though supernatural themes aren't really my bag). Oh and I've seen A Bitter Sweet Life(which - apart from Oldboy - I rate the highest). I don't think I've left anything out... Have you got any got any good recommendations?

Yea I did'nt enjoy the other 2 in the "revenge" trilogy as much. His short on the Three Extremes filml was good though! and JSA, although you need to understand about the conflict between North and South Korea. Was the war film Taegukgi or Brotherhood I think it was released under over here... I enjoyed it but I agree on Tale of Two Sisters, not in to that kind of supernatural horror stuff. Bittersweet Life gets me going big time lol, it's the best of the bag by a long shot.
I used to be real big into Asian cinema, Hong Kong inparticular... You should check out the work of Johnnie To, he's got quite popular in the last few years over here, he churns out about 3 quality films a year, usually a big action thriller to bring in the money, a romantic comedy and a more personal (usually gangster) and philosophical film.

Cheers for the info Gary C, I'll try and find the time to look into him. I myself used to be quite big on Hong Kong films(The Killer, Iron Monkey, Once upon a time in China, early Jackie Chan etc.). I'm looking forward to Ong-Bak 2 more than anything else from Asia at the moment though, as Tony Jaa is just a machine!
