Now, I'd say that was a job well done...if a film can have that impact on someone it's been done well.

I explained the merits of seeing the nastier side of life versus hiding away from it but it fell on deaf ears.

That was pretty much my mother's reaction. I only showed it to her because she likes Paddy nearly as much as I do -- she liked his performance and thought the story was good, but she says she couldn't handle watching the film again.
