Hey guys this is my first post and thread on the site so i hope you go easy on me i was wondering if there was anyone on the site who actually went to film school or Film studies as they calledit where i went. I would like to hear your guys or girls tales on the whole subject of the whole film study course. i did it for two years and found it very soul destroying in terms of making you want to make films out of love instead of a career. There wasn't a lot of talking or making films but rather the business and web culture of Film making which i found boring beyond belief and the fact that the film you made at the end of the year was from a script you didn't write or chose and was given to you by Tutors. the other thing i disliked was been told your films were bad by tutors who's work they loved to show us everyday nearly was awful as anything we did. We were restricted to use camera's or create our own films or ideas instead were told to follow the rules. I went on a moan there ;D Sorry but if i was telling you if Film school was worth it i'd say no just go out and shoot film and create your own ideas cause it nearly ruined me.

Those that can, DO! Those that can't, TEACH! While I wouldn't necessarily soil every teacher out there with this statement I can't help but feel that it at least applies to a few that I've met. A lot of the time on my degree I felt like I was the one doing the teaching. If you want to make films for the love of it then just do it. Do you think Shane would stop just because he got a bad review? No.
