Hey y'all. Shane Parton here. Jus got of the phone to me diddy producer mark 'toddler hands' herbert and we finally have some more news on the Smalltime DVD release!
There are still some legal wranglings going on, but it's a one horse race by the look of it. Whoever was planning to release it before your truly has pooed the bed and left the UK for good, leaving us with a better chance of doing it ourselves and hopefully sooner rather than later.
I'm gonna speak to a chap today about what I would like to do for the DVD which should include a greatly enhanced picture and sound, 3 possible commentaries (Myself, A famous mystery guest and one of you guys!), a where are they now Docco, tons of deleted scenes, a good few shorts, the original music and possibly even the original 90 min rough cut which got the BFI to put the money in to complete it.
My aim is to get this in the bag by Xmas so I can move onto to new projects in the new year. I would think warp will probably release it around this is england for the added publicity etc, so it won't be available till the spring, but at least the wheels are turning. Let's just hope the mysterious Latin stranger doesn't reaapear (if they ever did?)....

Brilliant, can't wait! That's a cracking bit of news I wonder who the famous mystery guest is gonna be. Someone off Through The Keyhole maybe, who no-one's never heard of?

You can get 7/4 on Jilly Cooper at William Hill's. How about having a whipround and getting Barry Scott to do one? Just think, that'd be the loudest commentary ever. Or what about Sooty?

All good news there! Hope it all goes as planned.
I've always thought that a fan commentary would make an interesting extra... for any film. Hope that does happen too. Has there been a DVD with a fan commentary before? I can see the snidey DVD reviews concerning such a commentary already! haha... but who cares.

That sounds brilliant shane! I look forward to when this comes out. A fan doing the commentary sounds awesome! great idea, gives it a different perspective. Cheers for the excellent news.

Has there been a DVD with a fan commentary before? I'm not sure about film, it seems possible/fairly likely that some cult films may have fan commentaries (and Kevin Smith is on the commentary on Donnie Darko director's cut and the new R1 Road House special edition, both as a fan, kind of)... But a fair few TV shows have had them.

Some of the Red Dwarf DVDs have fan commentaries on select episodes, pretty good I thought. A really interesting idea by either Warp or Chris Morris was the runner's commentary on the My Wrongs DVD. Be a good insight into film-making from the other end of the scale, plus there'd no doubt be some choice anecdotes ("He was a nightmare... kept making me run back and forth to the chuckwagon to bring him his grub"). Unfortunately on the My Wrongs DVD it was all done as a joke, and instead you got some dobbin going on about the history of dogs on film or summink.

Yes, and what an hilarious joke it was Another crap DVD extra from the Chris Morris back catalogue. The only good idea on his DVDs was the homeless guys commentary on the Drugs episode of Brass Eye. Pity it didn't come off very well.

Yeah Morris seems determined to never release a decent DVD doesn't he. Terrible waste really, considering the quality of his earlier material. Thank gawd for the bundle of odds and sods that CookdAndBombd have amassed for download! Dave, you should do the guest commentary seeing as you've already got a plug in the one on DMS! Could start a whole new trend of 'webmaster's commentary'...
