... but, as I'm new please bare with me! I think Shane Meadows is a fantastic director who has a certain persona about him that makes him original and 'different' from other directors I know of. I don't know what it is about his films, but there's something at the core that really etches away at me; something that is pure 'raw-ity'. I have only ever seen This is England and Dead Man's Shoes, but those films have to be in my top 3 films! This is England has to be my all time favourite film...I can understand why TIE is an 18 certificate, but I don't think it's anything that a 15 year old couldn't cope with, which was the age I was when I first watched it on film4 The first time I watched it, my reaction was total wow, it's so powerful and strikes right to the core...it's a film I can watch over and over, and not get bored of And I think it's disgraceful that people take the WRONG message from the film...kind of ironic really If it wasn't for my English teacher, I don't think that I would have ever really discovered Shane Meadows' films. He said that he'd seen a film called This is England and would recommend it to anyone - but he's always been a Shane Meadows fan. We have long discussions in class about the films and we got into conversation about We Were Faces (I think it's called). He even compares Dead Man's Shoes to Of Mice and Men !! In a way, my English teacher introduced me to these films after talking about TIE in class and then he recommended me to watch Dead Man's Shoes, which is sensational I think Anyway, I'd better stop rambling... Thanks for taking the time to read this (It took me a long time to pluck up the courage to write on the forum) Much love fellow fans, Zoe x ;D
