Good Afternoon,
I am a 22 year old Design Electrical Engineer, I love my job and have studied for 6 years to gain the qualifications i have behind me as well as 3 years experience working for some well established companies. I have always had a real interest in acting and when watching films I take mental notes of how a certain actor works and how they carry themselves. I would love to become an actor and have started to consider it, seriously.
I'm not saying i could be the next big thing but i would love to give it a go, is it possible to go for auditions on 'Holidays from work'?
Would anyone else out there have any more information on how to prepare for auditions? Get rid of potential first time nerves?
Thanks in advance!
Regards
Dan

Thank you for that Gareth, i have just checked the amazon link i will definately follow that up. I will look at that second youtube link in a moment. I did also look at your homepage, very impressive site i must say.
I checked starnow earlier today and will set up a profile on there, i have a little ticklist of things i need (ie:- experience in some films, etc) I am based in North East Lincolnshire but i drive and can arrange things around work.
May i ask, do you have any contacts i may be able to contact? No time like the present to begin networking,ey?!
Thank You
Dan

thanks man, the second link was just a joke,
Michael caine did a thing on the BBC, the whole thing used to be on youtube but cant seem to find it now
also theres inside the actors studio most of which can be found on youtube (skip near the end for the pacino impression)
As for contacts I'm just now really getting back into narrative film after spending a couple of years doing fashion and music stuff so I don't really have many contacts that would be of use, I'm actually shooting a short film this month but the parts that still need cast really aren't worth traveling all the way down to London for.
obviously your on the shane meadows site which gives an idea of the type of acting your interested in getting into, I feel any decent director shouldn't care about how much experience someone has and sometimes would see lack of experience as a good thing just look at Shanes casts, its life experience that really matters.
I really cant give decent advice on how to get into acting because I haven't tried to become an actor however Tom on here has done some TV stuff and plays parts in his own films I'll direct him to this thread

Also the fact you as a director seeing lack of experience a good thing is a bonus to me! I'm not trying to be the next Brad Pitt, i just want to try and be as real as i can be. Yeah Shanes films are something that first made me think "I'd like to/ I could give this a go" i also recently met Ricky Tomlinson (aka Jim Royle) at a show of his who was amazingly down to earyth and open about his acting life. It kinda made me think more about pursuing it but where to start?
Thanks again, you've been spot on!

Indeed it is, new to the area? So are you a 'budding young actor'?? Or just a Meadows Maniac?
