Having complained to BBC about non-show last week, I eagerly tuned in tonight. I was completely disappointed and disillusioned. I am the Councillor for St Pancras and Somers Town Ward. I saw nothing in this shallow and empty film to reflect the virbant multi-cultural local community. It is a disgrace to steal the name of an area for such a sorry apology for a movie. I hope Shane Meadows stays away from my area in the future, and confines his parasitic activity elsewhere
Cllr Peter Brayshaw

The film came out in 2008 Councillor. I would have thought if you were passionate about your Ward you would have seen it before now.

Councilor perhaps Dave the administrator for this forum aka MC/DC could help you as he's already done fantastic things for Weston Super Mare and I'm sure he would be able to create an as good, if not better, tourist information film for your area.

Peter Brayshaw, what's not multi-cultural about a Polish boy befriending an English boy, whilst they both fall in love with a French girl!!! HOW MUCH MORE CULTURE DO YOU WANT, PETER BRAYSHAW! Trust me, Peter Brayshaw, if you spent less time complaining about non-events, you would have spotted this quite a while ago. And have a clue about the origins of the movie. If, Peter Brayshaw manages to have 'Somers Town (part deux)' cancelled, I think it'll be time to do 'THIS IS LEICESTER'.

Odd isn't it? The films been out since 2008 and during that time lots of people who live in the area will have seen it. Yet, nobody has complained about the way it represents their neighbourhood. If Mr Brayshaw wasn't a politician, I'd say this was an attempt to manufacture a little controversy and whip up a bit of publicity.

Mr Brayshaw should be ashamed of himself for that posting. No wonder there are areas of deprivation like Somers Town if the area is represented by such insensitive individuals like him. Not only that, does Somers Town really want a councillor who is incapable of seeing genius enacted on his own doorstep. I am not a film fan, hardly ever go to the cinema (unless its Spanish for work) and ended up watching last night cos it followed straight after the footie. I cannot get over how much the two films have affected me. I've spent the day either thinking about them or reading about them (and Saint Shane) on the web. I live in Kings Cross and go to the Camden pound shop via Somers Town cos i like the edgy feel of the area and that was the other reason I watched last night. By the end of the film I was sobbing with joy for them enjoying the treats of Paris, desperately searching for pen to get Gavin Clark's name, the performer of a hugely moving and brilliant soundtrack and ready to sell my house so that I could set the three of them up in a little cottage in Provence. What astonishing performances... My other priority was a bacon buttie in the Tulip caff and a lunchtime pint in the Cock Tavern & soak up Somers Town but my conversion to the world of Mr Meadows has been so profound that I've not left the house. A brilliant and totally unexpected evening (don't get me started on Room for Romeo Brass...God it was wonderful)

fanofmarek, I think you've got it spot on...I felt the exact same! This annoys me; many people who dislike Shane's films, (I know of some ) in my opinion, usually do not know or fully understand the background to any of Shane's films... I for one watched this film last night for the first time and enjoyed it very much - a long with all other Shane Meadows' films

Sorry but this Cllr Brayshaw post has really got to me. We have this person supposedly representing Somers Town (the place). He hears it's on the telly, then it's not so he complains to the BBC that it wasn't shown. Once it is shown he's now complaining to the people who love and cherish the film and it's brilliant director. If he hadn't got a clue what it was about he shouldn't have been too miffed when the BBC didn't show it as planned. Now he's ashamed that his mum and dad finally know where it is that he actually does his local councillor bit he's pretending that Somers Town (the film) has not shown the leafy quartier north of Euston Road off to it's true potential. Talk about politicians being out of touch... And finally, although the whole tone of the posting (about what for me is one of the cultural highlights of the year so far) is incredibly insulting, the use of the word parasitic is a bit rich coming from a politician after the recent expenses scandal. Yes, I know councillors are not real politicians but they get there in the end sometimes - which must be a scary thought for Somers Town (the place) residents.

I wouldnt stress too much, a simple google enquiry of his name brings up quite a few forum posts by Cllr Peter Brayshaw, just generally moaning about things. Its a shame he hasn't got anything better to do, doenst he know its people constantly moaning that slow the internet down. He wont be back to justify any of his comments, so i'll happily sum the issue up -

Apologies for re-posting.
I have a couple of genuine copies of the Somers Town soundtrack album on actual physical cds (extremely rare), if anyone would like a copy for £12 including p&p, please send me a private message.
Please don't re-sell them on ebay for a quick profit (last seen circa £50) so only genuine meadows/gavin fans need apply.
If demand exceeds supply, I'll choose the lucky few at random.
A 10% discount is available to elected members serving their local community.
