...and ended up having to sleep with the light on for the first time since I was kid.
Watched Somers Town on Sunday cos I live nearby and it followed BBC2's World Cup coverage. Was gob smacked by the film and almost wet myself when they said another film by the same director was next up. As I've said on the Somers Town section, am not (wasn't) a film fan and rarely go the the cinema but the two worlds of both films have been with me ever since and within 24 hours I have become a Shane Meadows junkie. A Room For Romeo Brass had me laughing out loud in front of a television for the first time for a long time and scared to go to bed since I first clapped eyes on the Cybermen. It was hard to believe at some points that this wasn't a fly on the wall documentary. Those two kids are truly amazing actors who had mesmerising/blissfully funny/heart wrenching performances brought out of them.
That bit on the beach where Romeo goes off for ice cream is truly spine-chilling and although (sorry brethren) I thought the Nutter bloke veered into Alan Partridge like delivery (come to think of it maybe he was supposed to - am new to this), his rapidly declining mental health was brilliantly portrayed. No wonder the Beeb had to reschedule following the Cumbria tragedy.
Couple of quick questions and am sorry if the answers are staring me in the face somewhere here but what was wrong with Gavin's back/foot and is he disabled in real life. And what has happened to him? I thought he was outstanding - the sheer joy on his face during funny bits and the fear shown during darker moments were beyond acting.
Like many people here I joined a forum for the first time ever. A million thanks to Shane and all those who brought Sunday Night's 2 films into the world. And how exciting - a whole back catalogue to devour. Might even go to the flicks after the footie's finished...
