There is really no excuse these days though is there? 5 minutes with Wikipedia or something would answer all your casting queries. The thought of Noel Edmonds in the role makes those rape scenes even more disturbing ...perhaps Mr Blobby could have burst in and twatted him with the hammer. thats an amazing thought! spoof?

I met him once. he's really nice. He works in a cafe/playhouse near the southbank, making sarnies between acting jobs. Though if there's any justice in the world he wont be doing that much longer, I think he's completely stolen the show as Lol's malevolent tormentor Not sure I'd trust him with a knife now!
Seriously, he was superb in TIE'86...any actor who can provoke such strong emotions in their audience is doing something right!
(He can make my sarnie any day!) ;D

He was fantastic... but I rather hope he shaves for the next role I see him in, so I don't see "Lol's dad". Harris, McClure and Graham all deserve massive praise for this.

Don't know where to put this/ if it's been mentioned anywhere else, but as this thread acknowledges him, Johnny Harris is on twitter - if anyone's interested here it is: @mrjohnnyharris

I gave him a follow. Poor chap - brand new and I'll bet he's swamped by tweets already. ;D

When I watched London to Brighton yesterday he was very...different. Clean shaven and bald... Who thought up that hairdo in TIE then? (Brilliant touch, the bit of hair at the front.) He reminds me of Paddy a bit.One minute chilling and deadly in DMS and SO different in Romeo Brass . Excellent stuff !!

OMG!! I have just re-read my last post. 'Mike' may have shaved his head and gone all beardy for his role in TIE86....My apologies.

Dont get me wrong, the actor who played the rapist dad was great and really did the role justice, but i dont think anyone could eclipse the performances of Tom Hardy in Martina Cole's 'The Take' and Javier Bardem in 'No Country For Old Men'.
Still though he was a major part in the epicness that was TIE '86, and i have to confess that i was so enthralled that i had to watch it again on channel 4+1 after every ep...... how sad!

Have to disagree buddy. As much as I think Tom Hardy is brilliant The Take was not as great as TIE 86 nor his acting on par with Johnny Harris if we compare the two roles. The Take was too tame compared with the actual book. I can never understand why they dont bother making Martina Cole's two best books. I also have seen every TIE86 episode twice now

I also have seen every TIE86 episode twice now Well each to their own i suppose, but the roles were a bit different. One was a rapist who was used to make you feel sick and disgusted (plus a whole load of other things, but ill keep it relevant), and the other was a british gangster who based a lot around fear and his status. For me Hardy was just the perfect fit for that role and really became the 'british gangster' who was always on edge and totally unpredictable. No doubt Harris was sublime too and i would only rank Hardy as number 1 by a millimetre because of personal preference! I agree in that i would love to see more of Cole's books become TV series... Maybe Shane could produce/direct a few ;D

Did you know Sky one or adapting The Runaway and filming in South Africa at the mo, that was one of he best books Karld.

It's all about opinions though isn't it? I'd rather eat my own bollocks than watch/read Martina Cole stuff. Just seems like trashy crass stuff to me.
There's no denying Tom Hardy is a decent actor though, bob on in Bronson. He's about to be the new Mad Max. But where has anyone implied Johnny Harris's portrayal of Mick being THE best ever anyway?

Really, i look forward to seeing it, maybe if its succesful Sky will consider producing more of the books, including the two you mentioned which i enjoyed very much.
As for saying Harris's performance was the best ever i dont really think anyone was implying that as there have been so many great actors which nobody can come close too, but you cant deny that his acting was very good and really helped give the series a much darker edge in the last two episodes, he definatly deserves to be recognised for his performances!
And yeah i heard about the Mad Max news too, i just hope they can do it justice. Im sure Hardy will shine as always!
