Double glazing? Yep, fine. Fat framed upvc windows? Nope. Much more modern. And they're fuckin' everywhere! Bane of my life. Lovely Sheffield Council have done such a good job of upgrading their housing stock. They deserve the credit, but they make my job right tough I can tell ya. And speed bumps too. Ahh, didn't really exist back then did they? Also.. road signs with built-in lights. Again imagine trying to email the highways department to tell them you want to place an old steel give way sign over their new lightbox for, like, five minutes at the quietest time of day. And go to all the effort of explaining how you'll approach the risk thereby generated and finally get a "yes" from them after much bartering and reassurance, only to watch Danny Cohen frame out the frickin' give way sign at the last minute, thereby rendering all your efforts redundant anyway. Charming! ;D ;D ;D Does that really matter? Of course not, because it means I've set a precedent for the next time such a request comes up. that stop sign things priceless! I feel your pain!!!

I can honestly say that I have never watched any show set in the past and noticed UPVC windows, satellite dishes, traffic signs or pretty much most anachronisms. I'm too engrossed in the story and I don't look out for them. I wouldn't care much if I did spot the odd one. I tell you what though, reading this I am very grateful for all the hard work put in to make sure that these things are kept to a minimum.

Aww, most other forums descend into trollism and abuse, yet even this thread ends with a big hug. Nice.
Wait til TiE2186 when cryogenic Woody has to be thawed out to fight.... MegaCombo!!

Then don't get so "disappointed" by others taking the piss! You need to get your timelines sorted before you post on here, Rich. Little less time on the forums and more time location scouting and you could be uite good ;D

All about budgets and time for sure. I didn't pay attention to the windows to be honest, the cans though. I would've liked to have seen the old dangerous ring pulls we used to endure. but y'know it's not crucial, like. I'm looking forward to tonights I reckon it's going to go all dark on us.On a similar note, I walked past Back Piccadilly in Manchester last week which is doubling up as 1940s NYC for the forthcoming Captain America film. There's not only no expense being spared there but a waste of money too... They've built fake shop fronts and set dressed them a week before they started filming which meant each one had 24 hour security guards watching them, the council was there scraping up and painting out the yellow lines. They've not used MDF or hardboard, no, proper carpentry going on there, backing on to brick wall too. Very interesting but you wonder just how much it adds up to for a scene that will probably have about 30 seconds screen time too. Madness!!! Our kid got some pics here... one-up-manship.blogspot.com/2010/09/captain-mancunia.html

Great pics! I must admit, I realised that was Manchester as soon as I saw the pic, but I didn't realise it had been made to look more old-fashioned until I read your post. There's parts of Manchester which still look like that (for now, at least).
Bolton Council has probably just made a few producers cry because they are modernising all the back alleys on the terraces. The ones which were used on Life on Mars and things like that.

FFS - if you want continuity and historical innacuraces - watch Quadrophenia (especially as a scooterist or Mod) with your mates, pissed and 'spot the mistake' some really basic ones...
Vespa's and Lambrettas in the crowd scenes that weren't made until the 70's
The guy with 2 foot 'The Jam' painted on his parka The guy with the secret affair badge The skinheads on the beach scene The Capri parked in Brighton
This isn't gaffs about hard to fix stuff - buildings and windows, it's basic stuff that's central to the story - unlike TIE, where most of it seems bob on
Did notice that Woody seems to own 2 Lammies though

Since this seems to have become a thread for anything period related........the brick built fireplace was a nice touch. EVERYBODY had one of those bloody things in the 80s!

Did anyone else spot the nice shiney new Silver Renault Megane driving passed the gap in the background as Milky and the gang were running from the old bill? I thought i was seeing things, still a great show though.
Anyone spotted any other mistakes?
