What did Brando have to do with American History X?

Fuck me we got a fatherless kid in Kes! How about making him motherless, and he gets sucked into the whole thing looking for a mother figure. Ain't seen that one before. (Women can be racist, too - ever check out that Louis Theroux episode with the racist southern mom?)
And yeah I know American History X was cut down by the studio - doesn't change the fact that dramatically the father figure was out of the picture.
Don't get so defensive, Junior. I think Shane's Romeo Brass is up there with the best, but the guy's not infallible. Why can't I ask the question, dude?

True the father figure thing is an overdone pllot line but come on you cant underestimate the effect being raised without a father has on a lad. Kes barely makes an issue of this. And as the new film is drawn from personal experience It can take on a real to life plot regardless of any cliches that may arise. Of course Shane isnt flawless (Once upon a time is a perfect example) but he's still learning his craft and to be fair you've got to expect a backlash to any opposing opinion on his own fan site. that said, good point
