New york was a great crack. I went with Paddy and Mark the producer. It was none stop wind up's, drinking and tabasco sauce brekky's. The screening went well and me and Paddy came up with a great new short film idea "Blue Jack Mayo". Which is a kind of Bad Leutenant meets Where's the money Ronnie meets Mephisto. We never saw Bobby, but to be fair we never tried. The highlight was myself and Paddy telling mark that Central Perk was actually a real cafe and watching him self combust as he scoured new york in search of it. Loads of irish bars, mini bars and walking. We all came back with 5 times more stuff than we left home with and I snook a Jamaican 'Hot beef Patty back into england in Marks luggage in the hope that he would be arrested for sneaking bush meat back into country, sadly, he made it through customs and him and the patty are safe and well in Sheffield.

That's excellent news Shane.
Burning question is, did they like the film?

Sounds like it all went well!
It's cool to hear that a possible short film idea arose from the trip!

They loved the film in new york! It was a great platform for the US release in october. Mark the producer has just come back from promoting and fundraising for the new film ''Oi this is england' in Cannes. We produced a cracking brochure that I will pass on to dave. it gives a great idea of where we're heading with the new film. (I'm really excited about this next film, the script is going really well.) It looks like we have the funding in place for an August, September shoot. Anyhow, the site looks like it's doing great Dave. Many thanks and here's to 'Shane Idol' ( ).

How does someone go to apply to be an extra? Is there an agency/casting dude I can pass some piccies onto? If it is a movie about skinheads, I could morph into one. I am 6'3", skinhead, bushy beard (will shave to suit ) got the gear, got the face got some tatts... If there is an email address I can post a piccie to...

hey shane , when you make "oi! this is england" you must have the track "UK 82" by the exploited from their album "troops of tomorrow" in one of the scenes - one of the absolute best songs from a punk/oi band from that period . (although it does already appear in "made in britain" by mike leigh) and dont forget Sham 69 either - "hurry up Harry" maybe ( or anything from "thats life" ) . cool . slate

I'll give you a great song for the movie... 'Gimme Fire' by GBH. Essential. (and 'Teenage Warning' by Angelic Upstarts).

Hey Shane
Has the protagonist in your new film not got a dad? If so, isn't that a bit of a cop out? American History X had the same dynamic going on: kid with no role model finds father figure in a skin head. Just think it's a cop out dramatically, mate.

And? Sorry bud but wait till you see the finished product. I don't think there's second guesing with shane's films. And BTW American History X was cut down by Edward Norton from three hours to 2 against the directors wishes, and BRANDO's for that matter.
