I thought it was wheatabeet and then sugarbeet, but I could be completely wrong. Ah, I loved that song - my friend does the best impression of it.

I think T has got it nailed there...but it is when he drops her off....before they kiss, or he kisses. And the little bastards ruin his chances of copping a feel by shouting out the window. It is a memorable movie moment, one that I have sung to the missus when trying to "laugh her into bed"...I also try Dek's "I love you eyes....both of them!" Still end up sitting on the bog and cracking one off though Awesome writing....

I think youve got the wrong end of the stick people. the song follows a date. I mean what is the song Morell sings on the way to pick ladine up? It does inclued the Hair the colour of shandy and I love you more than my old DEAD puppy dog bit, but whats before that bit? I intend to find out what weetabeet is for you all.

I always though that Weetabeet was just some kind of childish version of Weetabix. I think it fits the character, because using a childhood term is something that he may not have grown out of like most other people would have. If that makes any sense!

OK got the lyrics. Morell sings them to himself in the car the day after Romeo gets beat up in the park.
You smell like fresh bakin' bread, Your hair is the colour of shandy, I'd like to take you to Scarborough fair, I love you more than my old dead puppy dog I cherish every moment im with ya.
he later resumes the song before their first date with....
Lady of the mountain, of sweet Ladine valley.
Beautiful hey?
Forgot about the bit where he gives her a furry pencil case full of spices which he stole from the charity shop befor he meets her dressed in his SPX trackie and visor...funny shit.

i may be way off track here and i know this thread is as dead as morrell's dad but i have some vague childhood memory that the weetabeats were a family of weetabix characters used in adverts and on packaging in ther 80's i seem to remember they wore white t shirts with red braces and jeans though that seems unlikely in retrospective

One of them did have red braces.. I think his name was Dunc! haha Don't recall the other characters other than a pig-tailed weetabix lass. Weren't they always trying to stamp-out 'titchy' breakfasts?!

it was a hazy childhood memory but it's what i always think of when i hear him recite his little poem and your right they were always trying to stamp out titchy breakfasts whitch is a fact that when teamed up with the skinhead attire makes them entirely to fascistic for any breakfast cereal probably why i preferred sugar puffs the honay monster loved everybody without prejudice as long as they had honeyhmmm that kind of makes him seem like a bit of a honey junkie what werte those 1980's cereal characters trying to do to the youth, since you asked these days it's branflakes cos theyre kind to my colon bless em
