Really enjoyed "This is England 86" although one thing confuses me slightly.....
Was it ever explained why Combo was in such a state when he came onto the scene? (bleeding head and all) Or is it just one of those things where the audience are required to use their imagination?
Apologies if I have missed anything obvious

Don't know why he was in such a state...But watching it again I think he hit his head on the table as he fell into Shauns front room. That's why his head was bleeding? Could be wrong though....

I ASSUMED the cut head was already there, who knows was he drunk as he was stumbling around, was he physically exhausted. I guess its for you to decided, also how did he know where Shaun lived as an earlier reference in the series said that he had moved house when the gang were looking for him on the buggies. I think its best not to think about this too much as there was no definitive answer.

Combo knowing the house was Shaun's is one thing I have gone over a lot. I know Shaun and his Mum had moved there only a few months before but I am guessing it was same area as he used to live. As in the 2nd episode when Woody and everyone showed up; Woody said the house was 'around this area' and I doubt he'd know Shaun had moved if they have not been in touch.
I was wondering if the house Shaun and his Mom moved into used to be owned by Combo's Mom?

Yea I too wondered if Combo had at some point lived there or had family members living there. Must be; as I doubt he knew Shaun was there. The following morning Combo said; why are you helping me? If he thought he would not get help from Shaun would he have gone there in the first place.

Totally agree Gerry at the moment its like some random act of fate that led him to that house and I'm sure Shane wouldn't go down that road. Also it seemed we are led to believe Shaun and Combo have not seen each other since Shaun got out of Combo's car three years previously.

Yes; when Shaun asks Combo "Why have you come back?" to me that implied he skipped out after he beat Milky. And I doubt Shaun would have been looking to seek out Combo (though I must admit when they hugged in the flat it seemed Shaun was really glad to have Combo back).
I would say you are right in that someone from Combo's family or past friends used to live there and that's why Combo stumbled there.

Y'all think way too much. He just happened to turn up at Shaun's gaff, don't worry too much about why, cos it don't effect the plot one iota.

I thought Combo knew where he was going, but was off his face on booze or something else when he arrived at night. So in the morning when he woke with some kind of sober clarity, he then realised where he had taken himself when he wasn't in his right mind. This is why he is asking Shaun "why are you helping me?".

I know definitavely what happened.
Combo bumped into Mr Sandhu in the street and asked him where Shaun lived. Mr Sandhu told him then went "hang on a minute aren't you the guy that used to terrorise me in my shop" before battering him with a VHS copy of Flesh Gordon he was taking round Cynthias

At the time, I actually thought that Shaun might find him whilst he was sleeping rough. Maybe he has been in the area for a while? Too ashamed to speak to anyone from his past, but keeping an eye on them all. Then he found out his mum was dying, had to drink to build up the courage to see her, but ended up in too much of a state. He was out of it and dwelling in the past and ended up drawn towards Shaun without even meaning to. I have no idea...
