Hello from Merseyside.
Having found your superb site yesterday evening and spending much of my working day (tell my boss if you want I'm sure he wouldn't be too surprised) reading a substantial amount of intriguing, insightful and friendly film banter I thought I'd better get on here and introduce myself.
I consider myself an ardent film fan, insomuch as I'll watch anything, yes anything, though that Human Centipede film is looking a bit dodgy... don't you think?!
I've been a fan of Mr Meadows for a good few years (DMS is an obsession and TIE/TIE86 are utter genius for so many different reasons) but admittedly I can reveal that I haven't watched all of his 'stuff'. I promise to make amends immediately-ish, dependant upon whether I can fit them in with all the other films I consume and my obsession with actually completing a script myself; there are several ongoing shorts, a sitcom and a feature film or two I'm working on. I've had these delusions for several years but have been plagued with a fair amount of self doubt. No longer though. My camera is finally being put to good use and I'm starting to believe in myself and am compelled to get some things out there. I'm sure Shane Meadows would feel proud to know he is such an inspiration to me and, as is evident throughout these forums, to a lot of other people.
I've got loads of other rubbish to spout off about but I'll save it for the specific forums or else this could turn into a dissertation sized ramble and nobody wants that, trust me. Haaang on, I've just realised I've got another 58348 letters if I fancy it. Only kidding, I'll leave it there.
Nice to meet you all anyway.
Mike

Welcome Mike,
There are lots of creative people around here-all inspired, like you, by Shane's work. There are also loads of film fans, so you should feel right at home. Nice to have you here.

Thanks for the welcome people.
Cliftonstate: I'm not quite from the city of Liverpool, more like a ferry journey across the mersey. Though it has been a fair few years since I've had to listen to Gerry Marsden warbling his tune as the ferry makes it's way across the murky waters. Still, I work in the 'pool and enjoy a good stroll around Liverpool City Centre a few times a week. There's some bloody good sights and people to see; there's some a***holes too but I don't let that spoil things. I've been to Anfield on several occasions but have become quite delusional about the whole football thing (not just a reaction to Liverpool being more than a bit pants at the moment, honest). Still, the experience of watching a game at Anfield is unbelievable; it still takes my breath away when I walk out onto the stands and see the pitch.

Cliftonestate: We should give them a good hammering tomorrow but with the way we've been playing of late I'm not so certain. This link may be of interest to you re: Mike Jeffries campaign against Hicks and Gillet. www.empireofthekop.com/anfield/?p=22359

You may have seen it already but if not check out the Liverpool Echo web site for the film put together by Mike Jefferies. Good to see Stephen Graham makes a brief appearance amongst all the other celebs. It looks like another consortium of Yanks is buying the club according to the LFC Website. We'll see how that pans out eh? How was your trip to Liverpool, barring the terrible but wholly unsurprising result of course?

Had a really good time everyone up there are always so warm and friendly. Liverpool is my second home. As for Hicks and Gillet i'm hoping this is the end for them but you can never trust Hicks he wont go away without as fight.
