After watching TiE '86, I'm starting to view TiE '83 in a totally different light...
On this is England'83 Lol says that the night she spent with Combo was the worst night of her life...
Does that mean getting humped by Combo was genuinely worse than being beasted by her own father or is it simply a case of her being a spiteful little bitch!
Then you have Milky's 2-faced treachery and cowardice in TiE '86, which followed on nicely from his 'all for himself' attitude in TiE '83 where he couldn't get rid of his bird fast enough in order to get his hands on half an ounce of pot!
I'm actually begining to think Woody's faction of the gang who incessantly bullied Gadge because of his weight, were a bunch of total gobshites!
Shaun was better off with Combo, who dispite his outwardly racist & violent attitude was much more honest and protective towards Shaun then that other nest of vipers could ever be!
PS. What working class skinhead in '83 could go home to watch a "film about aardvarks" taped on a £600+ (probably a years wages back then) state of the art video recorder?!

I think Lol should end up with Combo (if he has renounced his racism) because their characters are much more suited. Woody is a total plum

We had a Ferguson Video star in 1982 it cost £199

We used to hire a bloody great big camcorder from Redifusion in Matlock to tape our "no one else can have a more perfect baby" daughter ... took a vhs tape, so you can imagine how cumbersome it was to carry around ... it became my third hand!

Yeah he beat someone half to death. Clearly Combo has bis issues that partly explain his horrendous behaviour, but re-writing his history on his recent performance is wrong, I think. Lol was hardly going to say it was the second worse night of her life. I think Woody's character is getting a bit of a beating because he was flawless in the film and has now shown quite a few cracks in the series. Nest of Vipers? I think it was taking the piss (out of Gadget), most young friendship groups have a fall guy, I guess thats Shanes way though, showing many different sides to people. No one is perfect and no one is completely lost to sin. Its great that he's created characters that evoke so many different opinions, i've seen a few say Flip was there favourite character I think he was probably my worst and thought the scooter gang was one of the worst bits from it all.

Combo was always a complicated man and he remains so. In the film, he had gone to prison for Woody and obviously cared for Shaun and was devastated by his actions. However, he also expressed abhorrent views, bullied and manipulated a bunch of kids and nearly beat a young man to death because his temper "snapped".
In the series, we can see that Combo has deep regrets and is a lonely man. What he does for Lol is very noble indeed. However, he is still far from well-adjusted. We don't really know how much he's changed at all. I think the Combo from the movie would have done the very same thing for Lol. The way he entered the series shows that he still has some pretty serious issues to contend with.
As for him and Lol, who knows? They might end up together, but it could only work out if they both had a massive therapy session or something. Two people with so much emotional baggage would be a volatile mixture. I have to say, if I were Lol, I don't think I'd want to be in a relationship with a man like Combo. Not with her history and no matter how much good there is in him too.
As for the gang, I don't see that they were a bad lot. They were teenagers and acting like ones. Milky might have betrayed Woody now, but that does not equate to beating someone to a pulp. Lol rejecting Combo? Entirely her place to do so and I believe her when she said it was a mistake. She was 16! The bullying of Gadget was mean, but typical of kids and was addressed by Gadget himself. Woody in the series... yes, he has been dumbed down, but is still a nice guy. I am hoping he'll be back on form for the next series.
