Just come across an old tidbit in The Sun from a year ago, about Shane wanting Paddy "Constantine" (as the article calls him) to play one of the new characters in This is England '86. I'm guessing it was Mick, though Paddy doesn't seem old enough to be Vicky McClure's dad. He's too old to play Flip, surely. Though saying that, were the scripts even written in October 2009? It could have been a character that was nipped in the bud or changed.

Don't quote me on this but I'm sure I read that he was initially sized up to play a new member of Combo's gang but I think the script must have changed somewhat as Combo had no gang. Obvious thought is Mick but to assume that is to assume that Jonny Harris wasn't first choice and I think he was superb and is due more credit than just second choice Paddy stand-in. He owned that role. There has been no end of reviews of the show suggesting that Perry Fitzpatrick was 'channeling' Paddy for Flip and I can totally see that but I can't see Paddy as Flip. I was predicting him showing up as a relative of Sandhu or as an ex of Trudy's
