This movie just didn't hit for me. When it ended I felt like it had never started and I had a hard time connecting the action with what I was anticipating these two boys would do.
When I began to search out the critical evaluations of the film I expected Somers Town to be considered a Meadows stinker. Instead all I found were glowing responses to the simple story of friendship and the brilliant acting.
I don't know if I was looking for something throughout and was blind to what was happening, but I think I may have missed it. I wanted more exposition, I wanted to know what drove Tomo to London, I wanted to know why Marek has the camera. Maybe I was so consumed by all of this that I missed what everyone else saw.... but I got to admit... I don't think so.
I will watch it again and see if I see what everyone else has.
