I have not seen it for a while, but as far as I remember he was chucking a load of old tyres into the back of his van. I think I remember it mentioned on the commentary too, that even though Paddy was only in the background for a lot of the shots in that scene, he had to keep lugging the tyres into the back of the van on every take.

Twas stolen Coke bottles! The gas cannisters are as Dave says, in the flat. Remnants of his violent fathers battle with cancer. If you also look closely in the front room of the flat, you can see that one of the chairs has the image of a body sunbleached into it. This was another subliminal clue to Morells late fathers ilness.

Wow I'm gonna have to have another peak at the said scene now Shane has said about the image of the sunbleached body, I had no idea before about Morells father battling cancer, is it mentioned in the film? Shane the charecter of Morell is he a totally created character or is he based on a real person or parts of real people?

Shane the charecter of Morell is he a totally created character or is he based on a real person or parts of real people? It's never explicitly mentioned, but the couple of glimpses of Morrell's Dad's old bedroom (still with oxygen(?) cannisters by the bedside) sort of points you in the direction that Morrell's Dad was not a well man towards the end. This combination of Morrell having to look after his Dad and the previous years of abuse Morrell had endured must have to some extent put him on the road to mental instability and no mistake!

I think that's a definite contribution to his dual personalities, how he can be so nice one minute then be ready to rip someone's head off. The bit where he's upstairs psyching himself up for Ladene as well - I reckon there'd have been times he'd have been looking after his dad and then gone upstairs and gone berserk in the privacy of his own room.
