Yes, I would love to do this film. I would want the blessing of his family before I went ahead, but we are making steps to do that alongside talking to potential writers.
I have spoken to Tessa Ross (head of loads at c4 and the women behind everything I have done since dead mans) about it and she is really keen to help us get it off the ground.
If you don't know anything about tommy then the book 'put me back on my bike' and docco 'death on a mountain' are a good place to start.

Hiya Shane, cheeky as feck i know but where can i send my details for your casting purposes? I am a Salford lad who was knocking around during late 80s and early nineties, love your stuff and would nail my own tongue to a burning turd for a crack at anything you do on This is England 90 or indeed any of your stuff. Sorry to ask through the forum but thought would chance my arm. Cheers man.

Shane, As a huge cycling fan (and amateur road race cyclist) I think a film about Tommy Simpson would be a truly fitting tribute. Cycling is in my blood and my family have been involved with cycling and road racing for generations in the Nottingham area. I am only 30 and not old enough to have seen him race but recall reading about his exploits as a kid in my Dad’s cycling books and magazines. It's upsetting really that he is remembered to this day as 'the cyclist that died on the Ventoux after taking drugs'. What never seems to be remembered is that he was arguably the best cyclist Britain has ever produced. He had some huge wins in his palmares: • the first and only Britain to win the Tour of Flanders, which is probably the biggest single-day classic event (along with Paris-Roubaix) and to Belgians probably more important as an annual event than Christmas! • the first and only British World Road Race Champ! • winner of Milan-San Remo and the Tour of Lombardy. • first British wearer of the Tour de France’s maillot jaune • silver and bronze medals at the Commonwealth and Olympic games, among many other wins! It would be an honour to have anything to do with the making of this film about such a great British sporting icon. Cheers Mat

I read that! So hopefully this is steps towards this film? If so, I wonder if this will be filmed before or after TIE'90?
I'm quite eager for this film!

You're not very energetic are you?
I cycled the five pits trail last summer-very nice. Are there other mainly off-road routes like this then? Can I get a map?
