Dunno about Tommy Simpson but what about Bradley Wiggins? Doesn't he even sound like a Shane Meadows character? And on top of all that, Bradley's a proper blimmin mod! www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-18952231

I've been a Tour de France nut since about 1994 during a lazy summer between uni years. To say my year stops for three weeks every July is an understatement. I adore the nuances of each day's racing, the crowds, the sportsmanship, the sheer spectacle. The Tour de France is the most watched live sporting event in the world (I mean actually in the flesh not on the screen) with approximately 10 million people per year lining the route. Unlike events like the pisspoor Olympics or the FA Cup final, it's completely free to watch and on mountain stages the crowds are literally within touching distance of the stars. This is like nothing else on earth for access, involvement, and the scenery is just stunning. Bradley thoroughly deserves the plaudits, he looks so cool, a real icon. A Beckham for the modern era, supreme, gentlemanly sportsman and probably one of the fittest athletes on earth.
Yep, big fan :-)

Since nobody around these parts is much interested in the Olympics (what's wrong with people?) I'll post here. I know there's the Roses docco (top priority-obviously, quite right) and TiE 90, but I hope you manage to get this film made sooner rather than later Shane-Wiggo, all those team GB Olympic golds...there's a hungry public out there ;D

So... the Tommy Simpson is still on cards.... Shane and producer Mark Herbert will be discussing the challenges they will face when putting the story on film at the Eroica 3 Day Festival (which seems to be quite cycling centric). The description on this Warp Films event mentions that they plan to begin shooting next year! Here's a link to the festival website. Scroll down to the Saturday and then find the big Warp Films logo! eroicabritannia.co.uk/headline/the-emporium-of-the-unusual-hosted-by-Hendricks-gin

Must go. Btw Shane, if you decide to go for a ride up the Trail afterwards, the cafe at Chee Dale sells Pot Noddle

I was thinking that a documentary by the BBC should be made as he was BBC Personalty of the year. It is the 50th anniversary of his death in 2017 so better get your skates on. Have you got the consent and collaboration of Helen and the girls?
