Nope, they are definitely rolls, although in Nottingham they only have one 'b'-Derby folk are so pretentious. Baps are......well, as Chromebaby says, don't be going around telling the woman in the bakery that you've taken a fancy to her baps if you happen to visit our part of the world

here's my two penn'orth en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bread_roll - it's a cob
"Cob, the name used in reference to a round bread roll, often crusty," Yes, and if it isn't crusty, then you're using it wrong! haha Jill, of course I'm well aware of the bap meanings, I guess in a real situation I would be asking for 'soft rolls' rather than baps (floury, or otherwise). If I asked for a cob, then I'd expect a jaw breaking crusty ball in return, not a weedy little squashy bread roll. Cob my arse! ;D

Yes, and if it isn't crusty, then you're using it wrong! haha Pufft! Such pithy distinctions hold no stock up here sorrie. There's only one kind of roll and it's the Dennis the Menace crusty type. Away with you and your Soft Walter 'baps'! On which note.....what were you thinking Richard?? ;D

1/ I'm usually too busy for breakfast so I'm actually chomping somewhat ironically, as I specifically took time out to meet Arthur Mild on that day.
2/ It's neither a roll, cob or bap but a small barm cake.
Can. Worms. ;D

2/ It's neither a roll, cob or bap but a small barm cake. Mmmm. We seem to be entering some kind of weird Tyke bread twilight zone.....yet more evidence that you need to get back to God's own country...fast ;D
