Hello there. It's Shane Who here. I am just inside my Tardis having a plop and thought I would send some updates via the Commodore 128.
The shoot is going great so far (3 days in). All the regular cast are in great form and the new characters are fitting in nicely, so very happy.
Can't believe I missed seing Vicki pick up her first acting award (the rts awards on tuesday night). We were shooting till ten pm so I had to follow it on twitter, but I was with her and johnny in spirit.
I can't tell you how proud I am of Vicks. She has always worked her guts out for me whatever the role size and has been my 'directors pet' (i give out a prize at the end of the shoot) on many occasions, so to see her picking up a prize (and a biggy too) is frikking ace. Congrats to Johnny to on the Nom, sad to say, Jimothy Broadband pipped him to the post which is a shame. Next time J!
Right, My mini metro is here to take me onto set, so I'd better get my moving, I'll send more updates soon...
Shane Who, out.

Cool.. thanks for the update. Any chance of some sneaky pics of on set larks? ;D
Someone could be doing cheeky little video diaries... it's the future... well, the past actually. Everyone's doing them.
Just wishful thinking on my part there because like everyone else, we're all itching for a peek into the inner workings!

You may be wondering where the links to the couple of photos in this thread have gone. Well, I've deleted them because Warp Films are not yet happy to have leaked pics of the cast online.
That's fair enough. I'm sure we'll be provided with many nice things from Warp in the future concerning This Is England '88!

Hello all, last monday my wife ( Meekan ) an' I had the great 'onour of beein' "background artists" - posh talk for "extras" in a pivotal scene in the forthcoming Xmas special. Arriving at the godforsaken hour of 9:00am at a prearranged secret car park in the "steel city", we were immediately feted with breakfast before being rushed thro' wardrobe and makeup, as there were 30 of us "B.A.s" ( see above ) this process actually took several hours. Photos for continuity were then taken before we sped off in our limos - sorry minibuses to the location -- 15mins later we sped back for lunch! Now the lunch menu had to be seen to be believed - I kid you not "Nile Perch" was the fish option - I settled for the pasta dish, my wife choosing a more adventurous chicken enchilada. Suitably sated we once more made the trip to were the action was. This time we were optimally placed around the real actors before reacting as convincingly as possible to the instruction "Background -- action". This was repeated a few times with the cameras facing from different angles --- the RED cameras obviated any need for central heating, as their contribution to global warming was almost visible as a heat haze. It seemed so realistic with a christmas tree and decorations adorning every surface. Going back to 1988 was real easy for 'moi' as that was the year I was sent down for petty larceny with a 2 year stretch funnily enough also at crimbo. "Alright boss" Mr Meadows asked as he passed by, wow my dream has at last been realised, I ventured as a reply, captured for eternity on celluloid - well as a RAW file on a hard-drive - by the legend that is D.O.P. Danny Cohen in an Xmas special directed by the genius that is Shane Meadows. "That's a wrap, thanks everyone" As the sun sank below the horizon we relaxed in the coolness of the evening air before wending our way in a southerly direction along the A61. my wife, Meekan Mild and I, Arthur Mild would like to thank all of the cast and crew for a lovely day, POST SCRIPTUM - We've been asked back again as the whole scene needs to be re-shot, I hope it wasn't my fault !!
