G'day all Okay this is a question for the cast of TIE, but anyone else can answer as well if they like..... I would like to know what your thoughts were/are on wearing Dr Marten boots. Did you find them to be comfortable, uncomfortable, over-rated, or hard to break in while new?? Just curious, that's all. I wear them! -Nicholas.

O.K. An odd question deserves an odd answer ;D Back in the 70s, girls (skins or otherwise) didn't wear docs-we wore Monkey Boots. www.amazon.co.uk/ORIGINAL-MONKEY-BOOTS-UNISEX-CLASSIC/dp/B0013IVSMM I loved my Monkey Boots and wore them all the time. When I went to the Forest match, the police would remove the laces (and also confiscate steel 'skin' combs)-this is true. Doc came back in the early 1990s and I bought my first pair them-black, tarten laces. The fashion then was to wear them with quite feminine (really) dresses or skirts, which I did. Never found them uncomfortable and still have that pair in the bottom of my wardrobe. Last wore them about 3 months ago. Again, not uncomfortable. On the other hand, definitely wouldn't go for a long walk wearing them - blister city on a long walk, I think ;D

I got into DMs in the early-90s after discovering The Clash (via the Manics) and haven't looked back since.
They're a bugger to break in (although stuffing with screwed up damp newspaper and leaving in the airing cupboard helps) and as soon as they're comfortable they seem to fall apart on me. I've had enough of wasting cash and time on new pairs so i've started taken them to a local cobbler who's able to work wonders for very little.
The latest repair was to patch and stitch a split near my little toe and to replace the soles. While they're no longer proper airwair they've still got the look and character that DMs should be and at £20 is way cheaper and easier than having to buy and break in a new pair.
