No doubt that when he pulls the blade on the beach we get a massive shift in our view of the film, rather than laughing at the absurdity of the character and his behavior we start to fear and in a strange way feel sorry for him. When i first saw this film i was blown away and still notice new things every time i watch it, which for me makes it an awesome film (no good if you know the crack completely after one viewing). Paddy is worth his weight in gold!
