I know Gavin was busy touring and recording with UNKLE last year, but since Christmas I haven't seen or heard any news about him, his "Living Room" documentary or the solo album.
The last I heard the "Living Room" documentary had been completed and was just awaiting release and the same with the solo album - but that was two years ago, pre-UNKLE.
Does anyone know what is going on or if he is doing any solo gigs anywhere???
Thanks, Phil

I've put off joining this forum for ages because I had always hoped that Gavin would resurface.
I worked with him a couple of years ago and we produced some amazing music, which sadly never got finished because he pretty much fell off the map.
He's a lovely bloke but I think he'd be the first to admit that he can be a bit flaky sometimes. It's a massive shame that he isn't better known. There have been a few times in the last few years when it almost happened for him and it's gutting, as a fan and a friend, that it didn't.
His solo album never got released, but I have one of the only copies and it's just stunning. How it's never seen the light of day, I don't know. As a musician I know what a nightmare it is trying to get stuff put out but there seems to be such a hunger for his music, and yet it remains almost entirely hidden.
Last I heard - earlier this year - he was living in Brighton and still working with UNKLE. Not a patch on his solo stuff, in my opinion, but everyone needs to pay the bills.

Thanks for the update. It seems crazy that a solo album actually exists but hasn't been released. Like you said, you can release stuff easily online yourself via iTunes or BandCamp or something similar.

I honestly don't know if there are copyright issues (I'm pretty sure there aren't from what I remember) but it could be as simple as him not getting round to it. That wouldn't actually surprise me. Probably it's somewhere imbetween. Still, it's an amazing album and it would be so easy to put out there. Hell, I'd do it for him for free.
This is a short that I did the music for. The director is a big fan of Shane's, and you can probably tell from the music that I'm a devotee both of his films and Gav's music as well...
