This is getting squeaky arse time here in the Shottingham edit suite.
Me an the editor Jonny are putting in the early bird shift, the graveyard shift and even time travelling to try and get the last two eps finished and ready for grading and mixing.
My poor children only see me as I fly past the house with doc and Michael j fox in a ford Capri.
It's all the casts fault. They've gone and got themselves famous and now other people want to use them in stuff which is a right pain in the piehole.
We finally got the pickup scenes done a couple of weeks back and they went great but the slight bugger has been they have had quite a knock on effect on the edit. Meaning I have had to reedit and adapt what seemed finished to accommodate the 2nd comings. Normally in my glorious film world, I just finish when I am actually ready but TV is a harsher mistress and December the 14th,15th,16th are approaching fast baby and Fatty here needs to get a wriggle on!
It's akin to leaving doing your homework till the last night of the summer holidays and sitting at the kitchen table on that final Sunday evening wondering what severity of illness one needs to contract to be let off for not doing it. But all on a grand scale x50 with egg on!
Anyhoo, I'm nearly 39 now and I can't find a dog that can chew through a hard drive so it's time to crack open the pro-plus and work like a Staffordshire Shire Hoss to get the baby out of the door. Ep2 should be picture Locked next Friday, then EP2 needs at least two more weeks before lock, that leaves us about 3 weeks (2 if ep3 edit goes tits up) to grade and mix them. Then pray to god that we don't get any knock backs from quality control or OFCOM for too much swearing or offensive meadow'ness.
Muchos love, back to the Chilean Mine for me.
X.

can't even imagine the stress!! it's probably all the better for it in a way though - there's that thing they say - work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion - but I'd say the opposite is also true in that you can compact insane amounts of work into ridiculously small time frames - as long as you've got enough drive and adrenaline pumping you can do the impossible and the finished products probably all the better for all that adrenaline and stress and there will be things here and there that you'd never have came up with had you had years to examine every option thoroughly. cannot wait to see it!!! good luck!!!!

Thanks for the update Shane. That level of stress would kill me. Be worth it when it finally airs and the feedback-and plaudits-flood in Getting three one hour programmes on prime time is fantastic. Can't wait to see it!

So much stress! I'd be hiding under the kitchen table refusing to come out by this stage! I'm sure it will all be worth it in the end though. So excited!
