Is it not looking like being $20,000, which equates to something like £15k at the moment, I think. RED scarlet released on the same day. First DoP I've spoken to about them is going to buy a RED. But, blimey, cinema quality trickling down into the realms of the almost affordable (depending how badly you want one of course) - amazing.
My hope is that this news will lead to a drop in prices of the 5D, seeing as that "ancient" technology will be more than enough for my needs. Only question remaining is whether to buy the 24-105 or the 24-70 lens.

I was hoping for something more tempting for DSLR shooters but can see why they've gone for a different market. I'll just have to be happy with my 550D and 60D a bit longer.
if I was going for 5D lenses I'd be getting the 24-70 then looking to get a 70-200 in the future

Can't see the 5D mkii price dropping massively any time soon. Even though the 5D has been out a few years, DSLR's are still predominately for taking stills and the 5D is maybe canon's most popular camera for it.

It does seem way too pricey considering what else your money buys you. Plus it is only 8bit which could be problematic for the serious graders out there but the inside word is that it looks frikking awesome and so it may just punch above its spec.
Be interesting to see some samples, but even if they are rocking I still think the price needs to come down a bit.
