Hi. Long time reader, first time poster.
Currently discussing this wonderful film on imdb.
There's a big debate about the last scene - namely why weren't the police called. I've got my answers........they've got theirs (one twat in particular).
What do people here think?

I couldn't find the discussion about the end scene and the police. We don't know that the police weren't called in do we? But it wouldn't be odd; there's a lot of mistrust of the police in some w/class and ethnic minority communities even today.

More of a puzzle to me is that there are no neighbours having a good look at all of the action. But then again it doesn't detract from this beautifully made film. Paul

I'm an idiot! I replied when I saw your post on 'recent posts' and thought you were talking about TIE! Still think though that they might have preferred to handle it themselves-which Romeo's dad does ultimately.

Well i grew up on a council estate and saw domestics like that quite alot and hardly ever saw the police getting involved. I think for the film justice was served by romeo`s father to Morrel and if the Police did turn up after it would detract from the story because they would just take a statement and then get back to them, then romeo`s dad would probably be done for strangling him.

I can't see why they'd question this. I don't think it needs questioning either?
