Really glad to have discovered this board. Living in Prague, I didn't even know there had been an TIE 86 until I managed to get hold of 88 so had a lot of catching up to do. Shane Meadows's work always seems to bring about a range of emotions and provoke deep contemplation in me.
I remember the era well and it feels like being back there, identifying with some of the characters and their struggles; recognising people I've known in others.
As a struggling writer myself, I don't know if his work should be an inspiration or an indication that I should just chuck it and leave it to people like him.
On all levels, I've never seen better TV than This is England.
