Hi all,
Here's an unusual one for you - will anyone be in Manchester next Friday evening? I may have a little job for you if you're fit enough to do a spot of lifting. It's kind of film related.
Some background. I'm currently working on a project based in Manchester (not one of Shane's I must add). We've been having some availability issues of actors and locations and props and all sorts, the upshot being that on Friday we are filming an office scene in a room in a very interesting Manchester building. However, the very next day, the same room is to be used by another production and it needs to be largely emptied for them. This means that when we finish filming on the Friday evening, we need to pretty much clear the entire room. Our crew will have worked since around 7am on that day, and they are naturally not especially keen to continue working after "wrap" - ordinarily we'd leave everything in place until Monday and clear it out then. But this is not an option in this case.
My job is to solve problems with simple solutions, so, to help clear the room I thought I would seek some help, and what better place to start than on here. It would involve:
1/. Turning up on Friday evening at the location at approximately 7pm. The building itself is very interesting so a quick look at some of the other spaces might be of interest to you. It's not far from Manchester uni, so getting there shouldn't be a problem
2/. As soon as we finish filming, you'd help get all the filming kit out of the place. And then tackle the room itself - desks can be pushed to the far end of the room, other items can be stored in other rooms in the building which the Saturday production aren't using, ready for our crew to remove them at their leisure on Monday.
3/. I think about 4 - 5 of us would do the whole job in about an hour, if we're organised. I don't just need muscly blokes (oo-er), there'll be plenty of other smaller items to box up which won't take quite so much brawn.
4/. I could pay each of you £25 for the work. Would have to cap it at the first five applicants or it'd start getting a bit over my meagre budget, although I'd be very surprised to find five of you here who either read this message, lived near Manc, were free next Fri and were up for coming along.
5/. Afterwards, we could locate and occupy the nearest pub where I'd buy you all a beer (or two) and chat about the biz etc until I fell asleep under the table.
You'd get some insights and some cash, and meet a few other like-minded people from this forum. I'd prove to the film crew that seemingly insurmountable problems can be solved easily, with a spot of lateral thinking and a "can do" attitude. The location is too good to lose over the clash of bookings described above, and I certainly don't want to be rustling up another one at this late stage.
If you are interested in coming along, please send me a private message on the forum. If you don't know how to do this, click on my name, which brings up my profile page, and then click the send message button. I'll then give you further details.
