I was wondering if my poor yank self would be able to buy the DVD and watch it here. Is that even possible?? I'm dying to see the extras!

Have you searched for region hacks for your DVD player? There's usually a simple way to make most DVD players multi-region.
I think some of blu-ray versions have been listed as region free.

Same problem here. I can't find the hack for my DVD player. Been dying to see TIE '88. I was at least lucky enough to catch all 4 episodes of '86. Now I'm hooked and they drop me... I see how it is.

I hear what you're saying-even as the fiendish techno whizzes on this site insist it's simple, I've never managed to hack a DVD player even when I've found the instructions online. The next best option is a multi-region player. I've got a perfectly good one and (I think) it was only about £30 ($45??). A bit steep just to watch TIE, I know, but in the long run, it's a no brainer-opens up whole world of stuff. I've just bought a region 1 DVD from the States that will never be released on region 2, I'm sure. Anyway, hope you get to see it someway-it's great (better than TIE 86 imho). Oh, and welcome to the forum ;D

Oh, and welcome to the forum ;D Thanks much! I actually got to see it last night. Sure, in 13 minute pieces with Spanish subtitles, but what the heck, eh? Absolutely loved it. It's funny, growing up as a punk in Southern California in the 80s was apparently almost exactly the same as it was in the UK. Only we had a whole different accent. I still want the DVD though (for 86 as well.) Dying to see the 'special features.'

Glad you got to see it someway. Sounds like you had the 'TV experience' only without the adverts. It's a different experience seeing the whole thing uninterrupted, so hope you manage to track down a DVD version before too long. Who were your favourite punk bands? Loved the Ramones

I was pretty big on The Subhumans, Black Flag, Dead Kennedies, Minor Threat. Toy Dolls when I was in a happier mood. Not to mention quite a few southern California bands I assume aren't as well known... Adolescents, D.I., Dr. Know. The actual list is too long for a message board. Great music in those days.

Well, 88 isn't there but if any of my fellow Americans are still trying to see 86, it's available online: www.channel4.com/programmes/this-is-england/4odI caught the original movie streaming on Netflix. That's how I came to be acquainted with the show.
