Hi Nik,
Welcome to the forum-good to have you here.
I moved your thread, just because it is much more likely that your question, and the answers, will be seen by others wanting the same info, on this general discussion thread.
Dave might have more recent intelligence, but to the best of my knowledge the project in on hiatus. Not sure of the full details, but something to do with issues over rights (the biography). In the meantime, Shane has signed up to several projects including the Stone Roses documentary, TiE 90 and a feature on Tommy Simpson (you'll find discussions of all these projects in different bits of the forum and on the front page). So, while I think Shane probably has long-term aspirations to film KotG, it will probably a good way in the future now, even if the problems are/get sorted.
If Dave, or anybody else, knows differently, I am sure they'll post and let you know.

I think the rights were re-obtained, but other than that, it's still definitely classified as a project for the future. Reading interviews, Shane has always said it is his dream project so I would imagine that there's no way he would want to rush into it before all the stars align perfectly!

Thanks Dave just caught your post, This project I'm really really interested in, as you can probably guess. I HOPE SHANE COMMENTS, such a confusing project, different actors playing Bartley Gorman at different ages. But its a great story to tell, so I hope Shane put his heart and soul into it.

Just a little bit more info.......Paddy did start to train for the role...going to the gym etc, then it all went a bit pear shaped and had to be put on ice for a while. Good to hear that the problems re: rights have been sorted. A forum member sent me the biography, which I read and tried to imagine as a Shane Meadows film. In my mind, it was brilliant ;D-sure the actual film will be eventually But as Dave says, people-cast members, Directors etc-then get caught up in other things, so it will have to wait until the stars align, or all the ducks are in a row (I love that turn of phrase )

Hi there, I to used to live in Uttoxeter and was mates with Bartley for many years to, and I cannot think of anyone better than Shane to make this film, I have been following his career for some time now and proud to say I used to know him to, I was blown away by 'Dead Man's Shoes' it's one of my all time favourite films. I did try to contact him a few times but no luck so far but if Shane does see this and wishes to get in touch then my details are here. Good luck for the future Big Chris (Eales)
