Hello there everyone.
I am currently in the midst of doing my research methods project on how Shane Meadows use non-diegetic music in This is England. I was hoping for a massive favour and just wanted to ask how the Combo/ Milky fight scene made you feel after watching it? If you could leave a quick reply on this forum, that would be really appreciated. I will make you anonymous in the project so none of your names will be posted for ethical reasons. Thanks everyone, hope to hear from some of you soon.

Thanks,

Hey there, When I first watched the penultimate scene (and This is England in general) between Combo and Milky, I was 15. I remember watching it and feeling numb. I was in more of a state of shock than anything else, I suppose. I had no idea, at the time (maybe because I was unfamiliar with Shane’s films at the time), that the film was about to take the turn it did. I sobbed and cried and was in a complete state of shock, I was quite young I suppose and to see that had a huge impact on me. I do, however, think I was mature enough to deal with the subject matter and so I think I ‘coped’ quite well. I think I felt so close to the characters and this is why I reacted the way I did, because I really felt for them. Does that make sense? Hope this helps! Zoe

A few days back I saw the film again (after watching the complete series), and I have since then been searching all over for the piano piece used in this scene. Do you know what its called?
