Watched the rehersal footage today and was wondering why Paddy was dropped from the role of DEK?

I heard he walked out and said he didn't want anything to do with it once the 'big names' came on board and producers started poking their nose in changing the direction of the piece.

After seeing the rehersal footage on the DVD, I had always presumed that Paddy was just helping out with the rehersals and improvisation workshops and that he wasn't ever to be in the film.
It would be cool to find out the proper story though.

In the various interviews from the release of DMS, it seems that yeah, Paddy left the film because he felt it wasn't going to be very good.
Of Shane's features, Midlands is the only one I haven't seen. Should I watch it? I own the other three, and love them. Our uni library has it on DVD, I did rent it but only for "Shane's World".

To be honest Its far from Shanes best and shane even admits its not.
But its a shit load better than most shit brit flicks (like Blackball or anything with that Dennis pennis geezer in).
watch it for the experience,buy it for shanes world! Love it as part of the Shane Collection.

Yeah, I keep seeing that Dennis Pennis bloke's face on things (probably because of this Pete Tong film) and I really, really wanna smack him. He looks like such a smarmy cunt, you know? And not a good actor at all. One of those faces I'd love to just keep punching in until it wasn't there anymore...
