Saw a little tiny quote from Tom Hardy in the news about The Dark Knight Rises a few days ago and it has appeared on a few different news sites since.... here's one of them: www.gq-magazine.co.uk/entertainment/articles/2012-07/18/the-dark-knight-rises-tom-hardy-bane-voiceVery interesting. Do you think that Shane's documentary is the only place that Tom Hardy would have heard Bartley Gorman's voice? I know Shane has said that he would love to work with Tom Hardy... and maybe Tom Hardy has got his eye on the role of Bartley Gorman? Pure speculation of course! ;D I saw The Dark Knight Rises earlier today, and Bane's voice definitely has some odd inflections, but it's not much like Bartley's voice really.... but then Bane's voice is so synthesised and distorted by the mask, it's hard to tell.

Nice post Hardy's a good actor-a bit of a chameleon too-did a double take when I realised he was Bronson. Would be cracking if he was in a Shane Meadows film

That's pretty cool about Tom! (Haven't seen TDKR yet -- I plan to see it next Wednesday or Thursday -- but I loved him in Inception.)

¿Que? I didn't get that at all. Well maybe the "openess" of the vowel sounds and the slow, deliberate pronunciation...

was just about to post this! just stumbled across it looking for Tom Hardy interviews about Bane, wonder if it's that unsettling juxtaposition of extreme violence and friendliness. More of a character thing than the actual sound of it? I've seen TDKR twice now and I don't see any resemblance in the actual sound of the voice.

Just saw TDKR this afternoon -- I think it was about midway through that I began to recognize stray vocal inflections here and there. To me, it sounded a bit like Morell (from ARFRB) filtered through a Darth Vader mask...

This is very interesting indeed! I'm liking to believe that Shane & Tom have had discussions! Tom would be excellent in a Meadows film.
As for the voices sounding similar... they do, a bit. I heard a rumour that after test screenings they changed the sound of Bane's voice because people couldn't understand it. So perhaps originally it was more Gorman like. Also, when they shot the film, I bet his voice was very different to how it sounds in the film. It must be all ADRd in anyway. It'd be really interesting to see an original take with on location sound.

Tom Hardy TOP ACTOR and a really nice guy, worked with him on Bronson and The Take, if anything he would of got a little advice from LINDSAY AND LEIGHTON FRAYNE, who advised Tom on Bronson Along with Mark Fish, again the Frayne's gave advice to Tom why playing a role in The Take. due to Tom playing so many roles now, I guess he sat talking to his dog in a funny voice until he picked one that suited the role of Bane,
