Sorry it's been Yonks! I'm finally here with an update and on my first feature length Docco about my most favourite band of all time.
Well, where do I start? How do you put the last few months into words when you haven't even begun to process the process as it were. I've still got a couple more shows to come so we haven't quite finished filming but due to us having 700hrs of footage and needing to release this millennium, editing is well underway baby.
Everythin about making a Doc is different yet weirdly similar at the same time. I think the fact that I never quite know what I'm shooting next on my films has stood me in good stead. But when your making a film about somebody so important to yourself and so many others, it's quite a responsibility. Not quite 100m final in the Lympics pressure but pressure all the same.
Like all my films, it has grown a little. I only really intended to shoot the rehearsals and then one night at Heaton Park on maybe 7-10 cameras. What I ended up doing was their first live gig in 22 years at Warrington, a European Warm up tour, all 3 nights at Heaton Park on 35 cameras, their secret London gig and have the V festival and tour ending show in Belfast to come not to mention us collating 4 billion hours of Archive footage. To say we have a lot to go thru is a mahoosive understatement.
The mad thing is that although its quite daunting trying to work out where on earth to start, it's actually any fans dream job. I could quite happily take early retirement and just spend the rest of my life sat in a shed editing this little lot.
I will keep you updated as things progress. One of the major things I know for sure will be happening is a genuine cinema release (my first in a 150 years!) which I'm really excited about. All in all, I am having the time of my life, I'm addicted to Lady Grey Tea and I thank the Universe every day for my lottery winning job!
