Hey, does anyone have any feedback? I'm really pleased with this film but I'm having trouble getting it seen, any suggestions?

Erm, great shots at 0:50 and your end one. Its ok, bit of fun, good practice. Maybe some moodier lighting might have added to the sense of drama, at the moment it looks like bright non-threatening daytime when darkness might have added to the tension. I understood what was going to happen pretty quickly due to the title, whilst a nice pun it does give the game away a bit! Do you know Trailer Park Boys? Have a look at the Conky episode for how to create one mean fuckin' bastard out of a non-human character. Ravine! (the whole episode is on Youtube).

I agree with what Rich has said. Filming something in your place of residence is always a sure fire way of making something look amateurish... but then maybe it isn't where you live. haha Yeah, the title gives away the whole fun part of the reveal. The duck attack was fun.... needed a Holy Hand Grenade to sort that out! It's odd seeing this after seeing your glidecam short where you are returning the keys. The outdoor location and the smoothness of the glide (and the fun twist ending) made it better than this film (for me anyway). Keep making stuff! I especially agree with watching the Trailer Park Boys! The Conky episode is crazy, and not fully representative of what the rest of the episodes are like, but it is brilliant all the same!

As a bit of a laugh I enjoyed it,
but it's a case of working out the best way of telling the joke, I really liked your joke but your telling of it was like someone laughing throughout the delivery while the listener looks on bemused.
you need to stop winking at the audience

It is indeed where I live. We shoot a lot of 'apartment buddy comedy' style videos so the location fits perfectly. I would like to branch out to new interesting locations eventually.
Was I really winking at the audience?

had the whole thing been played straight like a real action film with the tension building and building - the characters flinching at little sounds etc. and no hint that this was anything but a real action film with real action film cast and locations the punchline with the duck would have been amazing with the duck attack exactly the same as it played (minus the blood on the duck).
That is the best way I can think of telling this joke
As for winking at the audience I mean that figuratively, but maybe that is the wrong term, what I mean is the over the top nature of the performances screaming at the audience "this is a comedy" need toned down in my opinion, but it just comes down to taste I suppose.
As a film made for a laugh between mates I'd be happy to watch many more but as a "real" short film there's a lot that can be learned from this for next time depending on what you're going for.

I liked your film too, but agree with many of the comments. It did feel like a film made for your mates, which is fine, but it doesn't work so well with a 'cold' audience who doesn't have that personal connection. Conky is a bit of comedy genuis. Imo, it works because Conky is the demonically crazy alter ego of the usually inoffensive nice guy Bubbles and tells a whole different story about the dynamics of the Trailer Park Boys relationship, but an audience can quickly pick up on that without necessarily knowing much about them. Needed something more-nice little film though

Jill that totally sums up why the Conky episode is my favourite.

Yes, it's up there with Cart Boy, Xmas Special and Mrs Peterson's Dog for me....Objectively, Conky's probably the best episode, but I'm a sucker for TPB's exploitation of mawkish sentimentality Having watched the film again, to be fair, it is very short and I wonder how far it would be possible to build a story with even thinly fleshed out characters/character dynamics in that space/time. One thing that did occur to me was how the TPBs use music. E.g-the emergence of Conky: This film uses music pretty well in the middle section, but maybe it would be a quick and easy way to bring more-mood/meaning/inflection- to the beginning and end sections? Not sure...maybe I'm talking rubbish..but worth a thought?
