After quite a few failed attempts to find a backer to fund a re-edit/re-score of Midlands, I think I have finally found a partner to help me get my directors cut out there. It may also be my first release on Blue-Ray.
After the incredible job Gavin Clarke and his team did on the Score for 'Somers Town', I would love to team up again for the Midlands Redux. Ted Barnes, who was a key musician on the Somers Town soundtrack was actually my original choice to score Midlands, so there is a genuine feeling that we are going to finish off what we started and finally make the film feel like part of the family.
It's gonna be quite a year on the release front if the gods are with us. Smalltime (DVD), Somers Town (Multi Platform), Le Donk (Multi Platform) and OUATITM (DVD+BLU-RAY) could all hit the stores in 2008 which would be quite a year by anyones standards.

I know a lot of people are indifferent toward MIDLANDS but I've always had a bit of a soft-spot for it. Really hope you manage to get your new cut of the flick together, Shane. I'll buy the Blu-ray. Will also buy the other titles you mentioned, completist that I am. Shane, just one tiny request. If the MIDLANDS re-edit happens, please can you shed some light on the spaghetti westerns you like on the commentary?

Shane i also loved OUATITM but can understand that you want it as you had always envisioned it to look and sound so it fits with the rest of you work in your eyes as the director.

Blu-Ray OUTITMs! I'll get that... especially the re-jigged version! Are those on the inside of the industry, like yourself Shane, going full steam ahead for the Blu-Ray discs now then.. and poo-pooing the HD-DVD format? It pretty much seems that Blu-Ray has won the battle to us punters.
OUTITMs was a cinema scope spectacular wasn't it to ape the sweeping vistas of the famous westerns?

I still haven't seen the theatrical cut of OUATITM, but I wish you the best of luck on that Director's Cut and will be looking forward to it (ditto the other projects). ;D

Here I ain't made of money you know - 2008 will be an expensive year for me with the looks of it! Seriously though - all sounds excellent... I really do like director's cuts because it's great to see a film that the director's chuffed with and designed to his/her tastes. Mind you - it's not going to be like the George Lucas stuff is it? Don't know if it'll look right with the extra bits set in Mos Eisley and the new music... as long as Jar Jar Binks ain't in it then I don't mind though! "Hmm - mesa gonna gets a can outa da fridge - youssa want one?"I'll def. give it a watch though - I reckon Mr. Ifans was excellent in it, as was Shimmy - so I'll look forward to this. N.

As I remember there were some great comedy scenes between Rhys and Shimy that went missing in action!

I'll be wanting to see this even more thanks to that comment! Seriously though (yes... I can be serious now and then) - looking forward to seeing this... and can we also coax you into putting on some 'shorts' (no I ain't asking you to model clothes for 'George' at Asda - I mean 'short fillums) - you know, like with the 'Shane's World' stuff with the release of thie original DVD? N.
