Want to see a Shane Meadows inspired play? Hiraeth Artistic Productions are taking a stage version of 'Titus Andronicus' to the Edinburgh Fringe 2013, inspired by 'This in England' and performing at the iconic Grand Theatre of Surgeons Hall throughout August. 'This Is England' meets Shakespeare in Hiraeth’s gritty and aggressive take on one of his bloodiest plays. Shakespeare’s classic tale of war, revenge, honour and rivalry is transported into the underbelly of 1980s London. Set deep inside British extremist skinhead culture, Roman warriors are unapologetically replaced with National Front political soldiers, their armour switched for military-style shaved heads, combat boots, drugs and knives. Doused in 80s politics, music, fashion and culture, Titus Andronicus is an exciting and engaging explosion of corrupt humanity at its most extreme!
