Got my Steelbook edition on Monday which looks a treat (and smells alright too, I always give new items a sniff).
Great to see that the premiere night satellite stuff is included. I haven't re-watched it all again yet, so I'm wondering if they've edited out the first questioner after the film.... the boozed up one. ha
Looking forward to lovely bit of commentary while commuting on the bus! Ha, it's my latest craze! Ripping the commentary audio from discs so I can listen while travelling. Once you know the film, it works a treat.
I can't claim to be a huge Stone Roses fan, but I can imagine the thrill that fans will get from that Spike Island footage! By the way, who is the dancing man on the left of the stage for the entire gig?

I haven't had my DVD through yet(fucking Amazon!), but the dancing guy is probably Cressa. He allegedly used to trigger John Squire' s FX pedals, but he was basically the Roses version of Bez

Great commentary (as you would expect from a Meadows film!). Plenty of talk about Mark Herbert's "glue breath", as well as Mark's dubious xenophobic impressions and talk of "one of those vegetarians that turn nasty". haha
They also take a break mid-film. I think that happens on most of Shane's commentaries.... the all time classic being the Romeo Brass return from McDonald's chat. Not sure I've ever noticed people taking a break in a commentary track before. ha... although maybe the other ones are just putting on a false pretence of professionalism and sneaking out for a fag without telling anyone.

My copy arrived last week but now down visiting the folks. Love 'em both of course but am looking forward to getting back to my DVD player and feasting on the commentary. Could've bought it with me actually.
UPDATE: Listened to the commentary last night. Touchingly self-deprecating and as funny as I would've hoped. A great balance of insight, jargon, irreverence and anarchy. Shane rattling on about Mark's glue-breath had me actually beginning to imagine I could smell that particular kind of glue myself so well described it was. I also enjoyed their comments about the Fool's Gold sequence edit. Very interesting.
I'm now going to start on the extras DVD!
