Who remembers in the olden days when the forum was totally unlocked? What I mean is that anyone could post and comment on here without having to sign up first!
It was all going well until talk of This Is England brought out some shitty racist comments from certain quarters, so I changed the forum so that it was for members only.
With the forum being so quiet now.... maybe I should go all carefree and open the place up again to try and get some action going? Anyone have any thoughts? It would be on a trial basis, and if things went tits-up again, I would revert to members only.
Are forums still something that many people bother with these days, what with your Facebooks and Twitters attracting all the attention? I'm definitely not thinking about getting rid of the forum at all, as it is definitely still interesting sometimes, and it's still the only place on the internet where Shane can post messages directly to his fans!
The number of visitors this message board gets every day is pretty impressive, so there's definitely people having a good nose about the place! ha

Any problem-racist, homophobic, just plain old nasty-posts/posters can be deleted easy enough. And if this becomes a problem again (when TIE 90 airs etc) you can always change the settings again. It is a shame the forum has become (somewhat) moribund of late and I miss the days when this site probably was one of the best anywhere on the internet, but times change-myspace was hot back then too. To borrow from Skinner (to Krabappel) no point in being (personally) collectively offended by broad social trends My own view of this is that forums in general have suffered from the facebook and twitter phenomenon, but also their usage has changed, in that people tend to use forums a bit like Twitter these days-for promotion rather than conversation. Interestingly, in regard to this site, the media also seem to use it-a fair bit-to pick up Meadows news. I'd like to think that things will come around again and the forums will experience a bit of a come back(I got sick and tired of facebook a good while ago), but in the meantime, it's still a useful appendage to the website and- as you say- people are still using it and-a heck of a lot more people are still- viewing it on a daily basis

Will the working class posters be welcome or will they be singled out if maybe there spelling or grammar is not up to standard?

Plus I think it's just how many threads can you start up about a film before you are repeating yourself plus Shane hasn't done full Length feature film in a good while, once he get's something out there as a quote from the Kevin Costner classic Field of Dreams come to mind "Built it and they will come".
Most of my favourite Forums have gone through a lull simple cause there's nothing really to talk about.
